The Outsider: Season 1

1x02 Roanoke

Alright, this was much better than the premiere. My theory is that a shapeshifter is involved, most people probably do. It seems like the obvious explanation. The person in the green hoodie is the shapeshifter and so is the strange man that's messing with the daughter for some reason. But what is the reason for killing Frankie? And why frame Terry? Frankie's death caused and led to Joy's death, which led to Ollie killing Terry and getting killed, which led to Fred attempting to kill himself, and the shapeshifter was present outside the house during that. Now, Terry's daughter is getting messed with by the shapeshifter. There must be something important about these two families, something intricate about this whole thing. The other explanation I can think of is that the shapeshifter had no reason to kill Frankie, it just did, out of fun or evil, and all the connections caused by it is simply coincidental. But that doesn't seem, I don't know, specific enough.

Wow, this show has me completely hooked already. Lots of developments, more of the great atmosphere that the show quickly established in the first outing, some new mysteries, and hints of something dark and woo-woo-ish. And that Dayton cut. Did that provide the DNA needed to create a clone, or something along those lines?

Oh, shit. Things are moving along quite steadily now.

Man, that family got dealt THE worst cards.

As others have said, this is a massive improvement over the introductory episode. The sound score is also great, keeps the tension high.

I was like why wasn’t Jason more featured on the show’s marketing? And now I got my answer hehe.
For real my heart breaks for the Peterson dad, like how do you deal with that? You can’t, so he chose to leave and it didn’t work out, that man really needs some kind of mercy.
Still not enough supernatural to me but the mystery is good.

Maybe I'm starved for mysteries. It seems to me that true and fascinating mysteries are hard to come by these days. But the lingering dread and cold creepiness of The Outsider are really clicking with me.

More cohesive then the first episode, still a bit disjointed. Ben Mendelsohn is getting slighter better, most of the others are as well, but not sure what Marc Menchaca is going to add, he seems pretty abrasive.
