Sooooo, is it 2x episodes or 3x? The 2nd episode had an "up next" type section at the end... seemed incomplete.
It's an okay two-parter and a mediocre adaptation at best. The utter bleakness and dreariness of the special made it hard for me to rate it highly.
I came across this mini-series lead by Rufus Sewell whom I also watched and liked from mini-series "ZEN (2011)". I like the script and loved the mysterious final.
confusing ending as the writer was tipsy
I really like Rufus Sewell, so I finally watched this. The beginning is not very good. The ending is confusing. It really does try to stay with Christie's style of writing but falls short. The actors are great, locations, costumes, etc. I can't say if it's the editing or the script itself but it just never gets to the quality you expect.
Honestly I feel this has been a lot of directors or screenwriters take on Christie's novels lately. Just dismal adaptations of the novels whether using actors like Gadot than can't act to save their lives or this where the script is just missing something.
Anyway it's with watching if you like Sewell and aren't expecting anything spectacular.
Free adaptation of Agatha Christie's novel that maintains the necessary doses of mystery, but pretends to be more intelligent and twisted than the original work, and ends up being confusing and chaotic in the development. It doesn't make much sense to twist the original story to build an argument that tangles itself up to an inconclusive and absurd ending.
Absolute garbage describes this pretty well. Exactly the opposite of a well done take on the novel, and even if this wasn't based on a novel, this is fucking rubbish. Had a feeling about 5 minutes into the first episode.
All points towards set design/costume and production only. Sure it was mysterious, but abso-fucking-lutely nothing happens and there's so little character development, it doesn't matter anyway.
As far as a modern take on these Christie stories, something like And Then There Were None or Ordeal by Innocence are well done - this is bottom of the barrel in comparison. If Christie were alive today this would be the first nail in her coffin. Avoid.
Something to watch if you are bored and have nothing else to do.
Could probably have been a movie as well instead of dragging out the story into two episodes. But well made, good acting and drama. Story is based on Agatha Christie, so no wonder it's good. Photography is very nice and I quite liked the music.

I don't understand the final, it's confusing
