I can't believe how well The Saint holds up even today in 2023 (60 years since the original air date in 1962). The pilot episode (and Seasons 1-4) were produced in Black & White. That's how old this show is. I used to watch this as a kid back in the 80s, and remember trying to style my hair like Roger Moore's :sunglasses:. I don't recall viewing anything in Black & White. So, I'm assuming that whatever was aired in my country was from season 5 onwards.
I think the character Simon Templar left a bigger impression in me than James Bond. Because The Saint was on TV every week, while I only saw Bond once in a blue moon, when a grown up rented a Bond movie on VHS.
I was searching for this series (and also the original Mission Impossible TV show) for a while and finally got my hands on both. These two shows are priceless for me. I wish they maintained a Saint movie franchise. We only have one Tom Cruise and he's doing a great job with Misson Impossible. IMHO Henry Cavill will make a great Simon Templar. Let's hope someone in Paramount sees this comment and get inspired to start a franchise. :pray_tone2:
