[6/10] Eh, this one’s OK. There’s a decent turn in the short, with Bart pulling his sisters away from their friendly kids movie toward a scarier flick to theoretically teach them a lesson in courage, only to get freaked out himself by his chosen movie. But that’s about all this one has going for it. I suppose we get our first mention of the Space Mutants, one of Bart’s early fascinations, and we get Lisa comparing Bart to a sad sack member of the Happy Little Elves, something she’d do again in “Some Enchanted Evening”. (I don’t think I realized until now that they were meant to be a parody of The Smurfs, which tracks with Matt Groening’s Smurf-based humor in Disenchantment.) Like a lot of these shorts, this one’s more interesting as an embryonic version of later stuff from The Simpsons than as a standalone piece of entertainment.
