A friend watched several episode of this on a flight going overseas. She knows how much I enjoy TV shows & movies from the UK and recommended it. Boy, do I owe her lunch!! I looked up the show just to see what it was about and saw Nicola Walker as a lead actress. I knew it would be good. I believe the very first thing I saw her in was Scott & Bailey - which I loved. This show is about a family law firm of female lawyers (mother & her 3 daughters, 2 are lawyers). Of course, the story line involves many exploits outside the law firm dealing with the family. The scenes well written and played out beautifully on the small screen. There are many scenes between sisters that no dialogue is needed - just like real sister's know, you know what's being felt. That's how well these actors are in these specific roles. Nicola Walker is at the top of her game but everyone in the show is great. The family turmoil & drama are realistic, so is the heartache & happiness of the characters. I would highly recommend this show. I can't wait for Season 3.
Using both the cases and lives of divorce lawyers to highlight the messiness of love and relationships works well.
However, the characters are all flawed to the point of being unlikable and I found the pace of the series to be very slow.
There wasn’t a lot here that persuaded me to keep tuning in, aside from Nicola Walker being as fantastic as she always is.
The second half was definitely better than the first. Maybe I went in with too high expectations?
Nicola Walker, always at her best, but this time as a sleek, professional, driven but wounded woman. Wonderful mini-series. Superb cast giving great performances for BBC One. An emotionally gripping story. I give this an 8 (great) out of 10. [Drama].
I LOVE this programme, anyone else enjoying it as much as me? I need to talk about it!

When I saw Nicola Walker I had to watch this, and I’m so glad I did. It’s a fantastic family drama around a family of women divorce lawyers. Brilliant season, I hope we get more.
