Wow. A true story, and in the Region where I grew up and went to school. Shocking. It is clear to me that the police were so ashamed of this cold case, that they pulled out all the stops to try and protect their reputation and play the hero to these poor people who lost this lovely woman. It is a sad story all around for everyone. All at the hands of the Durham Regional Police. The police involved should have been disciplined. The fact that they were not, gives them the belief that they did nothing wrong. They definitely hurt everyone in this story. They wasted time, energy and taxpayer money for nothing. And they ruined a man's life, and destroyed his ex wife's belief in herself, and gave the victim's family false hope. Thank goodness they have now outlawed these unconstitutional "Mr. Big Sting" operations.
