6.4/10. This one falls into the categories of "some good jokes, but kind of all over the place," which isn't unusual for The Venture Bros. Hank and Dean trying to be cool for their dates was probably the most reliably funny part of the episode, and the entire routine starting with Hank getting his crotch wet and trying to find ways to dry it was inspired. A lot of the best gags on the show play on the boys' naivete and their propensity to come up with idiotic solutions to any problem, no matter how small, and their part of the story had that in spades.
The Monarch and his henchman were amusing, but again, kind of weirdly deployed in dribs and drabs throughout. His excitement over his Livejournal date and the henchman's enthusiastic but ultimately inept assistance were good notes, though I'm kind of tired of the whole Monarch-Dr. Girlfriend-Phantom Limb love triangle. That said, the opening scene with the two of them and their ridiculous domestic strife was amusing enough, and Brock and Phantom Limb are a surprisingly solid pairing.
Otherwise the episode was a mixed bag. Dr. Venture's confusion over what kind of movie *The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas( is was chuckle-worthy, Brock-being-Brock is generally entertaining, and the myriad conflicting stories of how Phantom Limb became the limbless gent he is today were kind of cute. That said, in terms of the story, this was a pretty rudderless episode, without enough of the good hangout humor the show does so well. One of those episodes with a number of good parts that don't quite amount to a solid whole.
