With the X-Files closed, Skinner sends Mulder to investigate a body washed into the NJ sewer. As the investigation continues Mulder quickly finds himself in a shitty situation.
This episode is the direct reason for why I crap standing up now.

Gross on so many levels...
Skinner tells Mulder that this case about a flukeman, supposedly morphed from the radiation of Chernobyl, should have been an X-File. But he is taking orders from a superior, hinting that Skinner wants the X-Files opened all along but can't. The flukeman is a cool and grotesque creation. It's a monster that everyone knows exists. In fact, it's being transported to a mental institution even though it's barely human. I found it weird how there is not more amazement about its existence. It's also pretty gross at times.
We don't see full shots of Scully, Gillian Anderson was pregnant at the time.

It was sooo clear what would happen in the end after Scully told Mulder that this thing is capable of regenerate somehow. What an ugly creature lol
