Pretty cool. Enjoyed it a lot!
H.G. Wells builds a time machine. But his friend, a respectable doctor who happens to be Jack the Reaper commandeers the time machine and escapes to the resent New York. H.G. Wells follows him, attempting to convince him to return to their time and to turn himself in. But Jack the Reaper wants none of that and instead kidnaps a woman H.G. Wells has befriended in an attempt to get the key that will allow him full control of the time machine from H.G. Wells. The first episode ends with H.G. Wells' friend in the clutches of Jack the Reaper, and with the meeting of H.G. Wells and his great granddaughter.
This series could be great. Or it could end up being bland. It really depend in which direction the show goes. If the show becomes a hunt across time of Jack the Reaper by H.G. Wells (and friends), then the show has great potential to be super exciting. If, on the other hand, the show becomes no more than an excuse for a detective story, then all the potential inherent in the premise goes to waste. It is at least worth watching a few more episodes to see where this goes.
Fastest drop of a new show for me ever. 20 minutes in, track not fazed by the cell phones and new technologies AT ALL. Usually you get till episode 2 before I make a decision.
I liked it much more than I thought I would. The film is a sentimental favorite. I actually read the novel and was irked by the sexism. Anyway, this was fun... there were some real clunks, but I'll be back.
I love this. Way better than I expected. Didn't think I'd like it at all.
Freddie Stroma as H.G. Wells is so cute! I hate him in unREAL which is why I thought I'd hate this show, but he's so different in this. His smile makes me giggle.
It's light and suspenseful at the same time. I lost it when he was crying while watching the news.
This is going to be a fun adventure!
Very enjoyable and a fairly strong pilot. Has definitely hooked me into watching for the next few weeks. Love they way it blends the Victorian era with modern day living.
I discovered the movie a couple of years ago and loved it. This show is surprisingly just as good. Did I miss something though. How did H.G. Welles suddenly know his friend was Jack the Ripper ?
He showed him the time machine. Ripper took it. Welles found him in the future. Then tells him he has to pay for his crimes.

I was lucky enough to see the pilot a few months ago and I really enjoyed it. I'm curious to see how the story is going to play out. When it comes to time travel I am usually in it for the long haul.
