They telegraphed the answer to the mystery in the first episode. "But no," I thought. "There are seven episodes to this thing. Surely there will be plenty of plot twists and red herrings." Silly me. No plot twists. No herrings. Just a 30-minute mystery with 6.5 additional hours of beautiful Kiwi scenery and slices of dysfunctional Kiwi life. And there's lots of dysfunction to go around, which is probably why the critics liked it so much.
