this simply is amazing, soundtrack, slower pace and the general ambience fit so well together, it just won't let you go

great episode sets the tone for what to expect love that's based in filmed in Louisiana they go to some very rural areas around here and it shows

Love the slow pace actually. Very different from things on tv now where everything is fast...captured my attention.

I would highly recommend taking the time to continue on watching this: as it's the best series i've ever seen (honestly) full of plot twists and things that will generally interest you and keep you excited by it.

Y'all talking about the first episode like "yeah awesome but a little slow" and stuff... But really? I like to watch some movies and shows without knowing much about it. Just to see if the point is clear. And really, I don't know what I watched. That was beautiful (and more beautiful again when it comes to murder's crime scene, that is very strange) and well play (But hey, look the casting. Not very surprising) but where do we go? That was a strange pilot. I'm gonna go for the next and see what happened.

Very long and very slow! It lasts 60 minutes, but looks like it could be told in 20. I almost had sleep.

The soundtrack is amazing.
Has a hard american accent and the way they talk and make sentences is deep american too, so sometimes is hard to understand the meaning.
Great actors, great ambient and has little details to show the year the scene is going on.
The story shows the way a detective thinks and how he tries to understand the case is working on. no one gives him free information or its a obvious case.

"Slow"?! It's a pilot and it's called world building. Did y'all expect a shootout or something?

kind of slow phrase, but the story is attractive

A re-watch for me. Saw it back in 2014 and been feeling like it was time to revisit because it was pretty influential on my tastes then and now.

I do not understand how something is this compelling. This is top-tier TV on the level of Breaking Bad. Sheesh.
