So far so good, Sly was being Sly.

01x01 - Go West, Old Man: 7/10 (Good, It Gets the Job Done, Slightly Flawed)

Dwight Manfredi, a capo of the New York Mafia, is released from prison after serving 25 years and is sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma, by his boss. Although the idea isn’t very original—after all, we’ve seen stories like this before—considering it’s created by Taylor Sheridan, one of my favourite television directors currently, I was very much looking forward to watching it. Although “Tulsa” falls short of my expectations, it is too soon to cast judgement, and there is time for improvement. In contrast to his other works, Sheridan’s “Tulsa” seems to lack his trademark style or pacing. Stallone looks tailor-made for the role, and the rest of the cast is decent, but the episode felt somewhat underwhelming. The opener isn’t bad, but it could have been done with more polish.

– In the future, if anyone asks what I do for a living, you tell then I’m an industrialist.
– What does that even mean?
– My point exactly. Nobody knows.

Love Martin Starr, love Sylvester Stallone, knew I’d enjoy this. I thought Paramount+ had dropped 2 or 3 episodes at one time, so I was ready for the next one - I guess I have to wait ‘til Sunday!
