1-9 - 8/10 Laura Palmer continuation with moments of 10/10 Lynch surrealism
10 - 7/10 post-Laura wrap-up/sub-plot setup
11-15 - 4/10 silly, stupid sub-plots with a barely interesting drug story at the core and good but very slight Widnam Earle setup
16-17 - 7/10 recovery wrapping up the stupid sub-plots
18-22 - 8/10 Windham Earle + small town drama a la season 1. Not as interesting as Laura, but engaging at least.
Overall - low 7/10. Great start, good end, awful, awful middle.
This season starts strong and offers some of the best episodes ("Lonely Souls", above all), but it gets completely lost after Laura's killer is revealed. The cheap soap opera elements are the only things left and it doesn't even feel like a parody anymore. Characters have completely different personalities and do silly things all the time. Ben Horne's descent into senile dementia and James new cringe-worthy love interest could be counted among the worst moments in television history. Windom Earle had some potential as the new threat, but he ends up just fooling around and acting like a weirdo with no real consequences. The last episode "Beyond Life and Death" makes little sense but is visually interesting. It might be what David Lynch's wanted to do but made me feel the previous 10 episodes even more useless.
It is difficult for me to put into words quite precisely how the second season of Twin Peaks makes me feel. Though satisfying at times, I find myself conflicted as to whether or not I actually enjoyed this season as a whole. There are some very solid episodes and it furthers the Twin Peaks mythos in often gratifying ways. However, there are a variety of issues plaguing the season.
At times, the writing is atrocious, the acting is horrendous, the direction is disjointed, and the show as a whole is simply poor. The second season of Twin Peaks starts strong and ends strong, but there's a whole load of episodes in the middle which detract greatly from the experience.
Weirdness and wonderment are present in some episodes, though not in droves. Instead, dreams are traded for cheesy soapy romances and fear is bartered for the most childish handling of humor and sex.
Yet, there is something undeniably watchable about the show. It always held my attention and though not amazing - or even fair - the second season of Twin Peaks has an intangible and undeniably special quality that few other shows have. Nonetheless, that special quality is overshadowed, if just slightly, by the awful episodes in the middle of the season.

Crazy good show! I hope the movie gives some closure to this, and.. is there really going to be a 3rd season ?
Twin Peaks was hard to make sense of during the first few episodes. I honestly didn’t know much about the show outside the fact that it was beloved by many. The almost comical level of melodrama and occasionally questionable acting had me second guessing whether this was really deserving of its praise. But as my high rating would suggest, the show did grow on me considerably. After the adjustment period to the bizarre nature of Twin Peaks, I was positively hooked. This is primarily thanks to Kyle MacLachlan’s performance as Agent Dale Cooper. He somewhat reminds me of Superman in that he shares Superman’s relentless passion to fight against the evils of the world and has an unshakable faith in his purpose. The difference is that Dale Cooper lacks Superman’s infinite powers and abilities. He’s flawed but he sure tries his damned hardest to preserve justice, and for that reason Dale Cooper is one of my all time favorite TV characters.
If I were rating season 1, the first 9 episodes of Season 2 and it’s finale, then this would be an easy 5 star. But as many know, after the reveal of Laura Palmer’s killer, season 2 takes a hard nosedive. Not a slight dip in quality, we’re talking seriously awful stuff. It’s not too much of an issue since it’s quite easy to skip all the trash and season two’s brilliant finale did set the stage for Twin Peaks Season 3 - The Return.

Really good until second half (13-22). Feels like filler, hate the character development and plot feels trivial.
