Tyrant 2014

Really enjoyed it. Funny how the State Dept likes to shaft its allies!! (as you may guess Im not a Yank)

First seasons were better. Cast is still really bad. But still if you have nothing to watch, you are spending your 50 mins very nicely

terrible bunch of actors, cheap series

Political soap opera that takes place in a (non existing) Middle East Muslim country. It is an intriguing premise as it tries to show how the different facets oppressed Arabic people take when they are forced to the wall and an intriguing "damned if you do and damned if you don't" approach to some of the political issues. Some of the supporting characters had little to do (other than to get killed) but solid stuff.

I honestly don't understand why people say it's a 'terrible cast'. Is it because the actors aren't populair? I find Jamal and Laila for example quite intimidating.

Sad to see this series decline. First season was good but after Jamal's death all went down very quickly. Season 3 should have been the last, finishing with Bassam as a tyrant and taken down, just like his brother. Instead they keep making it worse and worse. Probably not gonna watch the next season. The last scene of season 3 should have been around episode 8 with Barry's picture side by side with his tyrant brother and father, being just another tyrant Al-fayeed in the wall..

Fairly genuine storyline but rubbish acting and really bad studio setup. Stick with it, season 3 is better.

Anyone know why there's a listing for a S2E13 when E12 was the season finale?

One of my favorite tv shows so original story. I hope FX wants to go for a third season

Such a great series so far. I thought season 1 was great, but they upped it in season 2. It's very original, and the cast is all great.

Really enjoying this show so far.

The ambiance production and scenery are without a doubt masterpieces but the plot is confusing, the casting is bad, bad acting and writing. You can't buy your way into the TV hall of fame.

'Tyrant' has an interesting storyline, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. It's so poorly written but have to admit it somewhat improved in the last 3 episodes. Adam Rayner was so wooden throughout although this does work to his advantage in the final episodes considering what he's planning. It is Ashraf Barhom and Moran Atias who plays 'Jamal' and 'Leila' respectively who steals the show with terrific performances.

With such poor ratings and very expensive to produce the show, I wonder if there's going to be a Season 2. But if it did come back, I hope they hire a better writing team this time. It has potential to be a good show if they can get it right.

FX has had it's fair share of great Dramas recently but I won't count Tyrant to those.

Since we follow the brother of a Dictator and it's set in the Middle East it obviously wants to focus on the politics... but common, how was that going to work anyways? The protagonist returning from America stands on the moral high ground and wants to change the ways of his brother - which he has plenty of chances to do. You know, that social media thing? You don't want to clean that plaza violently... Always treading the same ground is also not very interesting nor was it done in any realistic manner. As the series progresses and brings US politics into the mix it only gets worse. Much of the screen time was also wasted with really pointless and never followed up on story lines for the family (and the sister for example was just added for god damn nothing). The acting was lackluster as well and Justin Kirk was a total miscast (working with ever so flat characters to be fair).
The show would have been much more enjoyable if the Dictator was consistently insane and not craving for his brother's 'love' and opinions (which he afterwards ignores anyways).
Maybe it improves once S2 comes around but for now I would not recommend the show.

Umm...let's see...
Father was an Arab, mother's an American, main protagonist a mix married to an american woman. If his brother, the current President, dies a sudden and unexpected death without an heir, the next in line to the throne of Al-Fayeed Country will be the gay guy.
I LUV IT! It would be fun to have a gay-21stCentury-arab-american-probablyChristian-boy be the next tyrant of an islamic country!

The story's ridiculous, but solid. I'll keep watching!XD
Good, pretty good! It may sound strange, but it's a damn good show! ^ ^
