In practice, Oji-san is two animes. One slice of life with comedy and another isekai with comedy. The common thread is comedy, but there are genres mixed in each genre, be it action or drama for example. The author's intention, in my opinion, is to bring something new while being safe. The comedy/slice of life is in today's world following the episodic formula of an adventure per episode. A prime example of this is Saiki Kusou. In the fantastic world we have generic isekai whether through Mushoku tensei or Overlord etc...
The parts that are related to romance, in my opinion, are where the anime shines. The playful speech is disguised, but there is a lot of maturity. In terms of production, I have the impression that this also involves the editor's involvement so that a target audience can be targeted, that is, teenagers.
The anime isn't funny at the time (it reminded me of Marvel movies and that's not a compliment), but with isekai and humor it makes the situation relaxed enough to get a follow-up. My doubt lies in the setting of the scenario that the author doesn't seem to want for continuity at the moment and that's a problem because it means exhaustion.
For the first season then it works, but if in the second season it doesn't improve you can give up because it will only get worse. Another thing, I know that an anime takes work and I can see potential and dedication in this case, so I really hope it gets better.
