Honestly the writing still isn’t up to snuff. After 8 episodes they finally briefly tackle the existential logistics. Edred is wildly obnoxious and unsympathetic and not half as endearing as the show wants. I still want to knock him out every time he talks and you’ve shown us no actual good times or what it’s like with him and his home; why should I care if he never returns? And he’s petty and cruel in ways that don’t even make sense; he brings up that Melinda’s leave Emma’s body, and that should just. Solve everything and defuse it. But instead he then twists the knife to say Emma won’t love Winston anymore the way he is now. Why does Edred care at that point? He’s always of the opinion Emma does not truly exist of the reawakening and that only Melinda matters, so he shouldn’t be jealous at that point. He’s just a dick! He wildly brings down my enjoyment.
But there’s some great expressions and motions, and most of all, the best animation and fight scenes yet. Not promising, though, that the Merlin and Tiger detour was easily the best part over the actual main characters.
