Worst episode ever! Running out of storyline!
This episode is crap filled with back & forth flashbacks along with useless scenes instead of letting us enjoy the final battle as it plays out.
What a lousy, lame and languid mish-mash, Ragnar must be rolling in his grave. You shouldn't expect a big surprise at the end while they're shouting in the opening credits special appearance by X. Y, innit?
Loved Vikings and Ragnar's saga, however they are running out of breath and trying to milk the franchise for as long as possible. Please kill Floki (he's no longer the embodiment of Loki, the trickster god) and hire a trash compactor to throw in Ivar, the most useless and pathetic character in the series. I've had boneless chicken thighs with more personality than him.
Hope that you will succeed carrying the story on with Lagertha and Bjorn, but they are not Ragnar. If you can't do it, better stop while you're at the top of your game.
Margrethe went really, really off the deep end.
And did I see right? Did Lagertha's hair actually turn white?
I'll never understand Rollo supporting Ivar over Bjorn. Makes no sense.
I'll be honest, I'm so confused in this episode.
Wonderful episode! I really enjoyed the moments of calm within the battle for each character. I think it showed the true nature of the characters more than any other and showcased the tragedy of the battle as a whole.
All that foreshadowing and almost nothing happened!
DId lagartha died? I don't know. What happened?
boring episode. the flashback/forward thing was terrible for this type of series. Things happen too fast.. and they travel miles in just some minutes and do not get old.. Laegertha storyline with the priest is also boring makes no sense...
Astrid loved Lagertha until the very end <3
mixed feelings about tis episode
A decent episode, I liked it but I would have enjoyed it more if there were less flashbacks
I also loved seeing Rollo in the end!
How epic was this episode? Visually stunning with all the cutting between characters and their stories. Trevor Morris did an amazing job with the music. This one of the best episodes in the entire series.
I think the episodes was actually very good, I liked it, it's different, it's changing, it's getting better.
This part was weak. How is it possible for Lagertha to talk to Astrid for a few minutes without conflicting with others and still talk to Astrid's corpse after killing her? The flashback and forward of the story reduced the balance and excitement of the war.
Why do we hear church bells before a battle between Vikings on Vikings territory ?
And the start of the battle is a loose order for archers ?? Meaning before starting the actual fight they're actually standing there within bow reach of each others ? How mighty stupid would that be ?
The second time is even worse. The reserve troops and leader are on a hill, that is also in archer's range ?
Anyway the battle is impressive, specially the few aerial views, it's huge!
But the battle is not the point. We barely see how the battle goes. The back and forth between before and during battle, alternating between characters gives an intimate perspective for each of them. Each having a moment of calm and solitude in the middle of the battle field. This time it's not about the result, but about their individual stories.
But except for cinematic purpose, why do they all have to fight their loved ones ? The battle is huge, there's plenty of choice if they decide to avoid each other. And several (Halfdan, Astrid) just sacrifice themselves. What was the point ? Would someone else killing them have started useless revenges ?
Now Ivar is walking... He always compensated his legs by his arms. Maybe the crutches could have worked, but there is no way that lead to using only one then none... And that makes the character more common.
Not sure what was the point of letting Vikings killing each others when they had twice as many Franks to use...
In the meantime Floki's story is very very slow but at last something is happening. I suppose the temporality is different, it looks like just days passed for them while it was months for the others.
I really hate the Margrethe thing. Making things happen because of a random crazy is lazy and uninteresting. But the same when she has given plenty warning signs, to everybody, and everybody ignores that because she's just a nobody... that's stupid and annoying on top of it.
Ivar could barely stand. At this rate he'll be running into battle in no time.
Hopefully Rollo's participation will make sense in due time - maybe he'll backstab Ivar? - but so far...
Not a fan of how this episode was edited. It made it difficult to tell what was happening and when, or if it was happening at all. Did all the people we saw die actually die? If so, the writers sure did them dirty, especially Halfdan. I had really grown to like his character.
We've lost a few characters here.. :-/ (and soon others.. Floki?)
just finish the episode now... need yesterday night and this night to finish
too slow
too many historys bring together
too much hype with Ivar... he's not a god... not sure what the writters are trying to show
boring
and cant write much more before i enter in spoilers
this season looks boring
it's a pity but i understand it's dificult to have such a great history like when ragnar was alive
Well ... I mean ... that was quite a slaughter, I have to give them that.
I thought they were going to just tease us with Rollo when they said he wasn't there last episode. I never thought he would be back. I hope hes in a lot of the second half of the season.
The makers ov Vikings obviously watched that new psychedelic trippy "Britannia" show and said "Hold my mead!"

Kinda boring episode. And when did lagertha and that christian knight become super intimate with each other?
