The usual Netflix issue: the pacing. It's so damn slow, I feel like watching Luke Cage :-/
I go onto Netflix to watch something else and this is all front and center on the home screen. First episode was ok, I just hope it doesn't end up being like Iron Fist.
Not at all recommended. Weak performances, shoddy plotline towards the end and BS finale. Overall rating 4/10.
Only finished because of Katheryn Winnick <3
Don't waste your time, there are far better shows out there. If you want something of the same setting, action, etc. except the fantasy part, you should check out Warrior. That show is so much better than this crap.
Nice premise, with a few good scenes here and there but overall hot garbage.
Trashy but not quite abysmal and entertaining in the process on how bad this is.
Acting is generally awful, really awful for the main cast. The writing nonsensical.
Ocassionally random throwbacks, interrupting the flow of the story, confusing you as it's not immediately clear that you're seeing the past. Nor why you see the past. Until episode 8 where someone on the show thought, hey let's do it 24 style but more confusing and give information that we go back x hours now.
Several scenes are dragged out for way too long for no apparent reason other than perhaps filling screentime.
Dialogue? Usually very sterile and/or pointless. CGI? Oh, boy. One of the worst I have ever seen.
The knife in the guy's hand in the first episode is only the tip of the iceberg.
Music choice is almost always entirely out of place (and loud), fighting sounds at the beginning over the top and ridicolous.
The latter tones down as the show's ongoing but still way too loud and obnoxious.
Kai has never any clue what he is doing, he is just thrown into situations. This "works" because he (almost) never tells anything on why he is doing something or plans to do. Kai is a hollow, spineless (until he is suddenly not for no reason) and dumb character. There's no logical growth in his character (in S1 at least).
Iko Uwais is way out of his league in this. He is terrible and miscast for this role. Not that his character demands much and the writing is all over the place, not helping him in any way. But his character is an a-hole just to be an a-hole to begin with. Unlikable and unrelatable.
Speaking of unrelateable, Lu Xin, because he got burned by Uncle Six as a kid (accidentally we can presume) he sees himself as a "monster". That whole revenge subplot seems like the writers didn't know how to tie up loose ends when Uncle Six revealed his powers and who was really responsible for his (Lu Xin) burns.
The female characters in this are badass and the best part, though. Without making any social commentary.
Except for Zan, her story is way too much on the nose, predictable and quite boring. Choreographies are hit and miss, which is suprising to be honest given the action oriented nature of this show. Tommy's good, too, he's growing on me. Lawrence Kao is probably the only main character giving actual character to his role. Kevin Durand as a side character only appearing shortly to be killed off immediately. Damn, Durand is great. He outshines Uwais by so damn much in just a few scenes, it's hilarious.
This series feels like a sandbox for newcomers to showbiz. Netflix might have put together whoever was available to write something up and make a series. There's no clear structure in this, ideas over ideas scattered around. No clear direction whatsoever. Too bad since the premise isn't that terrible.
The CGI were stolen from Power Rangers 20 years ago. I was looking forward to this when I saw the cast but it's pretty bad. A pale copy of Iron Fist when itself was also pretty bad.
CGI, Acting and plot are really bad. The only thing that might make you loose your time with this show are the martial arts scenes, pretty decent. Even Iron Fist beats this show.
If you like kung fu flicks, I think you'll enjoy this. It might be cheesy at times, but most fight scenes are very well executed. Hope we'll get a season 2.
Great fight scenes, technically a delight to watch and way better executed than most westerners. acting and cgi could be better.
This is not a dubbed or captioned show. I hate dubbed and I can only take an hour or so of captions. This is a English language show with occasional captioning for other languages.
Midland choreography. The plot was fair but that was all. And who's idea was the plain between worlds? Still a 6 is a good thing. Could have been higher if the series was longer and had more flesh on its bones.
Dropped after 3 episodes.. it's not worth it.
It was okay. Entertaining if you like Kung Fu style movies. I really like Tommy Flanagan, so I kept watching. The acting is okay, some of it campy. The writing was okay but no idea why the Flanagan character had to die. Ended up ruining it for me. Seemed like that could've been a reset point for the world as a whole. His character had been a Wu Assassin also afterall. Oh well. Maybe watch the second season, maybe not
I Love the actor, the first 2 episodes are OK, but It started boring me after 4 episodes but I'll keep watching, that's one of my preferred kung fu actor right here.
Despite its faults, like the subpar CGI, the cheesy dialogue that some characters have and mediocre acting for some characters (Ying Ying), yada, yada, yada, it was still enjoyable. But I do think the show was more appropriately established with the Fire Wu being the prime, antagonist focus and prime Wu Warlord instead of later on when the other Wu Warlords were introduced. It ended up feeling rushed when that happened. The Fire Wu should've been the only Wu Warlord and antagonist in this season, and then the rest be introduced in the second season if it got renewed. But it is what it is.
uhhh don't know from where to begin, storyline sucks, acting uhhhh, effects been done in a school lab.
fight scenes are nice but some of them u could tell is a fake.
every episode you hope it'll be better, but at the end it's a total rubbish. waste if time even some good actors in there.
Netflix u failed again
Fun little show...but
WORST CGI EVER!! :)

The acting is pretty bad, the CGI is laughable, the story doesn't appear that original to other Netflix Originals where a hero with new powers has a parental figure/family friend that has to be defeated (The Protector, Iron Fist, The Order) but I'm going to continue to give it ago, in the doubtful hope that it improves.
