By far the best of the Power Series. The characters are better drawn, more diverse and, over the course of 2 seasons, draw you in to their individual arcs. The tension builds thru the stories with enought action to keep things moving withou stretching credulity too far.
Started well but the pace slows to a crawl after Season 1. Suffers from inexplicable plot jumps a few times eventually ending up in a fairly miaerable heap at the end of seasson 3. Feels like a great premise blew itself out early on, and the writers struggled with the choice of either going deeper into the original story for s2 and 3 or broadening the canvas, they ended up attempting both and delivering on neither.
Freeman is compelling and totally believable in the lead role and you get a real feel for the night shift coppers and the world they inhabit. The story starts to feel bit thin by the end though, like it had been extended to fill out the 5 episodes, and the suddenly had to resolve everything in the last half hour. That aside, the characters and the atmosphere carried me thru to the end. Emily Fairn as Casey is terrific.
spaghetti thriller, loads of threads,murky middle as they all seem to merge, then several red herrings revealed and the final denouement. Fun overall if fun is the right word.
