I don't understand why Joan Is Awful is so highly rated this season. I mean are you serious ???? After that shitty of an episode I have finally confirmed my theory that black mirror watchers are starting to expect less and less from this show so much so that a shitty and predictable and frankly boring episode like that can get almost the same rating as white bear which was a episode millions and I mean MILLIONS of magnitudes better than this piece of shit. I mean seriously the black mirror standard has gotten worse and worse. We all saw what happened with season 5 you know like Rachel, Jack and Ashely Too or Striking Vipers two genuinely shit episodes and somehow after that we have decided to ignore the quality of previous seasons and have decided to focus on something else entirely I mean seriously a good ending to a black mirror episode has almost never happened before. It only happened in hang the dj which was good but getting such a shitty episode with such a shitty ending and it can't even be a bad (in terms of the fates of the characters) ending????? That is just insane to me. I also watched episode 2 and let me tell you that it is legit just a letdown. It doesn't fit with the entire point of black mirror. It wasn't dystopian at all (I mean the first episode at least had electronic cigarettes) and in general didn't really fit the whole black mirror theme where technology is meant to be the big bad. I mean what I guess we got a vhs tape with some serial killer recordings on it and a plot twist that (I'm not gonna lie) was pretty predictable. I mean the whole episode It felt as if I was watching the movie "The Visit" which if you didn't know is about kids that go visit their grandparents that they have never seen before and they find out that those aren't actually their grandparents but are instead escaped psych ward patients. All in all the first episode gets a solid 1/10 because it wasn't really scary nor was it entertaining, the characters weren't interesting, the writing was mediocre and to top it all off it wasn't even funny which I think it tried to be. I also didn't really like the showcase of toxic masculinity in the character Mac and then the showcase of toxic feminism in Joan which seemed to be portrayed as a good thing for some reason???? I also hated that they just had to push in the gay representation for some reason. I mean I'm not homophobic or anything I just think that its a trope that is way too overdone in new media. They made the gay character act like being gay is his entire personality which I though came off as very annoying I really wonder when companies are gonna start realizing that putting overly gay characters who's entire personality is being gay in their shows is not going to do anything except annoy people. As for the second episode it is a 5/10 because it was just sort of mediocre and sort of boring to be honest. I will probably write more when I finish all of the episodes but I'm not looking forward to it seeing as the next few are the lowest rated episodes the series has ever produced (At least on this site. And if you ignore Beyond The Sea seeing as it has a fairly normal rating for a black mirror episode).
