Timecrimes

It’s ok for a time travel film, but there are other films that do the concept better in my eyes. I felt a lot of the time I was not believing that’s what someone in that position would “do”.

For example with Hector 1 randomly breaking in to the building rather than going home to call the police. Or when he’s “surprised” he accidentally killed his wife in his own house. Who else are you expecting to be in there??

Not a bad watch, but definitely better out there.

Blue Beetle

Came in to this without much prior knowledge, and really enjoyed the film from start to end.

It’s got a fair chunk of humour in it, sort of similar to Ant-Man/The Flash type, and some really good details.
Plot was fairly predictable, but the whole film was a joy to watch start to end.

Virtuosity

An interesting watch with a very young Crowe, who’s performance is a bit comical, and a bit eerie.
The plot is ok, very typical of the 90’s and the whole “VR/Internet” era, but easy enough to follow.
An ok watch if you like 90’s action films.

What the hell actually happened? I know events that occurred in the film, but actually explaining it to someone is ridiculous. :joy:

Sharknado

This is an absolutely rubbish film. I cannot even begin to describe how much I love it!!
The bad acting,
The bad special effects
The horrendous continuity mistakes
It all ties together for a gloriously bad movie that I will always force others to watch with me. :joy:

The Fantastic Four

For a film done in the ‘90s you kind of know what to expect. But what you don’t expect is how cheesy and totally varied the tone of the film is. Is it comedy? At times. Is it serious and slow paced? At times. Is it a top quality origins story for a well know super hero character? At times. Does the kid grow up by 30 years in the space of 10? Well… yeah.

At least they got the “Clobberin’ Time” line in.

THX 1138

I found this quite hard to watch, because I struggled to enjoy it. I loosely got what was going on, but at the same time I didn’t understand it? I think I’m sadly too used to being fed the needed infuriation rather than picking it up as the film dictates. Some really visually impressive scenes for a film that came out in the 70’s though!

Midnight Special

Quite enjoyed this. Slow-ish pace, but enough to keep you intrigued throughout the film. I can understand why people would be quite affected by the film and the characters journey, as I found it quite involved and tight.

“Can’t believe I paid £4.99 for this!”

My girlfriend

Much better production quality than the previous film, and just as absurd. If you enjoyed the first one, this will not disappoint.

Howard the Duck

I had heard terrible things about this, so was eager to see how bad it was, but in all honesty its actually alright? Quite a few chuckles here and there, and a good duck pun or two. Howard is fairly humorous. The bedroom that wasn’t a bedroom scene, felt a bit weird. Wouldn’t have put it past them to have actually made them get together. Not too sure I’ll see Lea the same again when I rewatch back to the future… lol

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

I really enjoyed this film. I loved the original, and was worried what would happen with a sequel (?) so many years after the original, but I felt like it was great overall.

The main cast had some fantastic interactions with each other, and I liked how they were all portraying their real life counter parts. Personally thought Karen was quite good at being the shy, uncomfortable school girl, and The Rock being, “Not-The-Rock” was quite funny.

Some hilarious moments in it, and a real “feel good” factor. I liked how they linked it to Alan being stuck in the jungle from the original Jumanji when they see his name etched in the wood. Nice touch.

Would be interesting how the next one turns out, because I always find “new character development” films are better than “now the character is developed have this story involving them” type films.

The Marvels

Surprisingly this was actually a good film! The interaction between the 3 main characters was interesting and Kamala was great playing the super hero fan. There was some rather funny parts in the film, and generally was a feel good movie. Predictable, yes, but definitely one of the better films released recently.

Very interesting film. I like something that has weird in it, and this has a decent weird factor. About half way through, I thought I had it all sussed, but after what I predicted happened, the film continues and gets more weird.

There’s definitely better weird films out there, but this was definitely worth a watch to get the brain working.

Quite enjoyable, but definitely didn’t feel as “fun” and “playful” as the other Ant-Man films. Never really knew much about Kang before this film, so cant say I agree or disagree with peoples thoughts on him.
The dude with the holes was awesome, I want a friend like that! :joy:
MODOK wasn’t quite what I expected. In a way it would have been better if they kept the mask thing on him. I get they were trying to keep it in line with the comics version, but it just felt… weird.
Overall a good fun filled adventure, but not as humorous as I was hoping.

The Flash

Well this was an unexpected little gem! From the trailer I knew it was going to be right up my street, and it did not disappoint.

The films humour is spot on, and just the right level of silly and joyful. The plot was good, if somewhat predictable at parts.
Absolutely LOVED the references in the latter part of the film.

I generally preferred marvel films, but this one really did a great job, and gave me such an enjoyable evening.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Great film! The humour was just right for a Spiderman film, and some fantastic references and little nods to things. It seemed to drag a bit towards the end, and felt like it could have brought the conclusion a little sooner, but still a fantastic film!

The Sentinel

A good action thriller. Wouldn’t say it’s the best way to spend 1hr48minutes of your life, but if you’re in the mood for a bit of suspense, this can quite easily fit the bill.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

Despite not being a Nick Cage fan, this was a great film, with an absolutely fantastic friendship between Nick and Pedro. A good few laugh out loud moments, but not quite enough to warrant a re-watch.

Nick fans will love it. Everyone else will enjoy it.

Your Name.

I went in to this not really knowing what to expect (and I can’t remember why I originally got hold of it either!) but it truly was an incredible film.
It’s not a blockbuster action packed anime, but rather a slow yet intriguing story about 2 individuals intertwined in fate.
Really great film. Highly recommended.

Good film, if you like romantic comedies, you’ll know what to expect. Not as rip-roaringly funny as other romcoms, but still was a good watch.

Spirited

Not too bad a film, I generally don’t like Will Ferrell, but I thought he was actually pretty good in this. Ryan Reynolds plays his usual Ryan Reynolds, but toned down a bit.
The film has a good feel about it and a nice watch, but I doubt it will be one that’s played every year at Christmas.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Was quite surprised watching this, as I felt like it had a different “feel” to most of the other Marvel films. Previous ones have been very “yeah yeah yeah yeah” but this was very “oh. Ok”

There was quite a bit of filler that seemed unnecessary, which made the film appear to drag on a bit, but overall it was actually quite good to watch.
There were some pretty bad cgi moments, which I was a bit surprised at, but overall not too bad.
A good sequel.

Blood Punch

Interesting film, with an interesting plot. I enjoyed working it all out as the film went on, and the final scene did make me laugh. There are definitely better films, but this is still worth a watch.

Top Secret!

Top notch job again by the Zucker brothers. If you enjoy the comedy of Airplane and Hot Shots, you’ll be right at home here.

There’s some great gags in here, spaced out just enough so that you’re always ready for the next one.

Very enjoyable.

Not entirely sure what to say on this. As someone else said, it’s not what you’d expect from the cast, but it’s still an interesting watch. It seems classed as a comedy sci-fi, but I would say there’s minimal comedy in it, and more of a sci-fi..ish film.

I quite enjoyed it, regardless, and after thinking about it I quite liked how the tone changes and almost pivots completely at a point in the film.

Anne and Jason are great as always, but don’t expect their usual romance/comedy roles that you’ve come to associate with them, as you’ll be looking too hard for it.

Worth a watch, but once will probably be enough.

The movie poster is very misleading to the quality of this film. Low budget, poor camera work, cheap props. Absolutely awful.
I loved it! :joy:
