What is up with teen dramas and cheating? First Maeve, now Eric. Also the fact that a 17 year old went gallivanting around a strange city with an adult he just met is messed up. I know they didn't hook up, but the fact that the show made us think for a minute there that they did is gross. Like, sir, that is a literal minor, please go to jail.
The headmistress is evil evil. What she did to Adam, Lily and Cal was horrible. The students need to riot right now and get her removed.
Loved the simple moment of Adam's dad recreating the joy he felt cooking with his mom as a child. Very touching scene.
The double date was so fun. It started off super awkward, but Adam unexpectedly giving Otis great advice regarding Ola and finding common ground with Ruby over the Kardashians of all things was really heartwarming to watch.
The headmistress offering to help fund Maeve's trip to America has earned her a tiny bit of good will. Maeve deserves so much after all that she's been through. The show really wants me to get on the Erin forgiveness train, but it's not happening. The way she's treated Maeve is too awful to get past IMO. You don't owe people second chances just because you're related to them.
The last scene was heartbreaking. It must've been so hard for Ruby to open up to Otis and let him see past the facade and when he didn't say I love you back you could see her heart shatter. I know he shouldn't say it if he's not sure or not ready, but still, I felt so bad for her.
You know what…. Fuck maeve…… I want ruby to be happy and with Otis ….. it’s probably not gonna happen tho
Well, looks like this show subverted my expectations yet again. I was sure the Isaac thing was gonna be dragged out till the last possible moment. I'm pleasantly surprised.
In other news, Maeve's mom is still the worst, the headmistress has made the fastest change from hero to villain I've ever seen, Maeve and Aimee's friendship is everything to me, Adam's character development is great (I love that he's finding ways to change his harmful patterns of behavior, we stan) and Otis and Ruby might just be the first time I actually ship the couple that's in the way of another couple I'm rooting for.
I'm glad Isaac came clean early in the season. Maeve was never going to be okay with that he did, so best to be done with it now.
And I'm getting strong Delores Umbridge vibes from the new headmistress. I'm guessing there will eventually be a student revolt and Groff will somehow get his job back, possible with less fervor than before?
When June saw Rita again, mannnn someone started cutting onions in here. Those traumatic bonds that all of them share with each other, I hope the show goes into that more.
Unfortunately, it’s becoming harder and harder to root for June. I get she’s flawed, I get she’s damaged and I get that she’s got a score to settle. But nothing about her character’s portrayal is even remotely likeable anymore.
That said, utterly enjoying the season and looking forward to what the following episodes may bring.
I rolled my eyes when they put the costume back on June, thinking we were going back to square one. I did NOT expect that ending. And Radiohead to top it off. chef kiss
Every episode this season is absolutely Terrible! CBS, please just stop! Discovery is done. I love the Star Trek shows & this ain’t it! Just call this prog discovery & leave the Star Trek bit off, coz discovery isn’t even close to the high standards the normal Star Trek series has set.
Come on, Eric cheating on Adam was so unnecessary.
They're still trying to make their relationship work and this whole season just showed all the effort Adam puts into it (improving his grades, writing poetry, having open conversations, managing his anger issues). Meanwhile Eric gets upset when Adam doesn't want sex or when he's worried about Eric in Nigeria? And now Eric cheats on him? I'm all for multi-dimensional characters, but would be great to see some effort or good side of Eric in this season.
Nothing like a sex montage to start off the new season.
Whoever gave Maeve that haircut needs to be shot. Someone really looked at the gorgeous Emma Mackey and thought it would be a good idea to give her these bangs. Disgraceful.
Even though I ship Maeve and Otis, he and Ruby are cute. Maeve and Isaac on the other hand are a big nope for me. I hope he stays firmly in the friend zone, but this show is a teen drama, so it could go either way at this point.
Yes Dave is the GOAT, but this was not his best. I would not watch this with an expectations. Only watch this when you are extremely I mean extremely bored. You are not missing out on anything.
Brilliant season. Oh, and Bark Wahlberg :joy:.
How can you not feel empathy after hearing her testimony about what she went through?! Worse of all, she keeps being gaslighted! (I'm not surprised the Waterfords have supporters when there are Trump supporters in the real world)
For all the flaws this show had after Ragnars death I think this is a decent and saitsfactory ending. And at least they didnt ruin the legacy of (and my enjoyment in rewatching) the first seasons like a certain other show. The first three seasons will always remain one of favorites of any show ever.
Why do the writers have to conflate gun safety with women's right to choose. Dr Glassman's concern about a gun in the house he lives in is just as valid as Debbie's concern about feeling controlled. Dr Glassman can be a controlling person, but he can also be right about not wanting a gun in the house.
If the genders were reversed, and a woman didn't want a gun where she lived, the storyline wouldn't be about the man's right to choose. It would just be about whether two people can find a compromise, and if neither side can compromise, then it's just bad compatibility and shouldn't be together.
I also don't understand America's obsession with guns. Could you imagine if Debbie wanted a super aggressive dog in the house, one that attacks, maims and potentially kills intruders, but also has a high rate of accidentally attacking and killing the owners of the house (which guns do!)... how is that allowed? And in that scenario, how would it be okay to force Dr Glassman to accept that the guard dog has to be allowed in the house?
Well this episode is a total waste of air time, for years I have had this series rated as 8/10 but this Elizabeth recap episode has forced me to drop my rating to a mere 5/10 and I am being overly generous!
Get rid of her - then maybe I might start enjoying The Blacklist once again.
So are we going to repeat the whole Ketill/Floki plot but this time with Ubbe??? :unamused:
These little droids were as useful in taking back the ship as Jar-Jar Binks.
I swear if Reddington ends up being Liz's mother because the show was told to get woke or go broke, I'm done with this show. The whole time I was waiting for the reveal that was all I could think about. It would be 8 years down the drain.
How is the actress that plays Mrs. Keyes only 14??!?! Wow
She's definitely an interesting character and the dynamic with her and June is interesting already.
With characters like these it’s hard to know who you’re rooting for. I guess a show that can do that while keeping you hooked and feeling a whole bunch of dread, resentment and frustration must be doing a lot right.
Well, at least I have an idea what the hell is going on. Still not sure if Red is 'good' though. We don't really want Liz back by the way.
This is truly a well put show. And one where there is no forced sexuality or race or gender. Everything feels pretty natural and real life-like. I have liked characters that if they were "forced" in other setting (which is something that Netflix specially tends to do), they would probably won't work for me. Eric still keeps being amazing and his relation with Otis feels very genuine (although i think he wasn't in his best behaviour this season). Adam's character keeps developing even more, and the actor was able to really capture this evolution (from a "no-emotion" bulk bully to a guy that feels confident enough to say "i'm pretty"). I think the next season should be the last one before it gets stretch too much. This end-season wasn't bad at all if it were a finale, but i really wouldn't mind to see a new one. The story is so wide that keeps you hooked enough to want more. Cheers to Netflix for this one
DO Not drink everything they say 'llifeboat', you will get liver failure.
Dam that was an uncredited Tom Hanks buried in that make up!!!
"I don't think I feel that emotion"
"Very often, Michael, when children are bullied by a parent, they falsely learn that emotions are a sign of vulnerability, and so they shut them off"
that hits hard..
- Ah, the first time a son/daughter is mature enough to call their parents out on their flaws, well done Otis
- That Nigerian accent is really testing my English comprehension tonight, as a foreigner as well lol
- Mmm that photographer is not saying it all, careful Eric...
- Here he is - Michael/Anton Ego
- Phew
- No Eric, come on, poor Adam
One of the most emblematic episodes of Game of Thrones. Peter Dinklage absurdly flawless in each of the words he said during the last scene. You really are capable of feeling Tyrion’s disappointment and hatred.
Nope, not as dope as the other comments suggest. Sure it was kinda unexpected, the ending, but this season has been such a disappointment. Elizabeth wants to kill Reddington, then a few episodes later she is fine with him, then again pissed that he doesn't share the secrets, then suddenly everything is all good in this episode suddenly.
The introduction of an old character to nudge Liz in the direction she ended up choosing. What rubbish. Any normal headed person would have just said screw this I'm done and I can finally leave with my kid so I will. The writing has gotten as bad as it can get during this season. I'm horrified to think of what they're going to do next season. At least no more horrible acting by the person who ended up dying.
