Hey, Universal, you really should’ve made that Wolfman Meets Mr Hyde movie. When Angel comes in, we truly have a real Monster Mash.

I had honestly forgotten where the word Hope from the title came from, and I’m really curious to know whether either actor was familiar with Keaton. But good on Sunnydale for having a festival!

Kind of surprised I handled this so well, but it helped that they weren’t bitey zombies.

I love when they bring back actors from the original series playing the same character. Eric Allan Kramer looks way better now than he did in 1989, and I say this as someone who likes long haired men.

That giant doll is definite nightmare fuel.

That was not a good musical, and I’m betting it’s already been done. I did like the bit at the end, and figured they’d have something like that.

Workers unite! I’m surprised I haven’t seen socialist memes of Buffy standing with the hammer and sickle in this episode. I really wanted her to say she was the Slayer and see the demons freak out.

In retrospect it feels a bit like they’re clearing the field for next season’s big bad. I’m going to miss Spike, as possibly the best part of this episode was anything with James Marsters.

I forgot how much I like Whistler as a character.

The Top Gun episode of Buffy. IYKYK.

A little but lore, a little bit filler.

Vague memories of this one but no details. Feels like a filler episode with a bit of Buffy backstory.

It seems kind of odd that Giles got let go so easily, but it’s Sunnydale, Jake. It’s Sunnydale. The warehouse fight was pretty awesome.

Another one that I apparently somehow missed during the initial airing, or just don’t remember at all. And wow it’s way more cringy watching it now. How many episodes are going to be like that in retrospect?

Team Angel or Team Oz? How much of this inspired Twilight?

Love the O’Henry and Quest for Camelot promotions.

Why does that one vampire never look non-vampy? Is it an effort to look human, and he just doesn’t want to expend the energy? This is probably the highest quotient of teen drama in an episode. It very much outweighs the lore revealed.

Nothing like a little Lovecraftian horror in your teen action series.

Watching John Ritter as the villain still feels weird. And Cordelia just walking down the hall with those three still doesn’t track.

So much build up in the first part, the resolution comes a bit too quickly. Kendra is pretty cool, but her fate is pretty well telegraphed, even if you haven’t seen it before.

It’s interesting to see the parts that stand out in my memory from my first watch when the episodes aired. I definitely remember the guy made of maggots but forgot that the twist ending completely.

I feel like Jenny should’ve been able to handle the events of this episode better. It’s not like she hasn’t been in mortal danger before.

I feel like they wanted Ford to have AIDS but opted for cancer instead to be politically correct. I remember watching this when it first aired but not how I felt about his illness at the time. Love that they had a bit of Jack Palance. How many vampire films get shown in the background over the course of the series?

Lore increases and we start to get more premonitions of Willow’s future relationship. And Ethan gets introduced in a nicely sinister way.

It’s hard to watch this series now and not see all the trauma towards women, even with Buffy kicking ass all the time. This one is particularly egregious, with the frat bros hitting a little too close to reality.

Everybody talks about this being the first appearance of Oz, but no one mentions that it’s also the first appearance of Jonathan. Which may be why he ends up the way he does.

Spike and Dru make everything so much better. It is pretty much why everyone says the second season is so much better than the first.

Further proof that football is toxic and a danger to society.

There’s no teen angst like Slayer teen angst.

Great ending, but the lead up is a little slow. I forgot that this was also a teen drama.
