Very much enjoyed this, and I was surprised at how well Armisen played Fester. I'm not an Armisen fan very much, but damn did he rock in his portrayal of Fester. Arguably better than Lloyd in channeling Coogan, if that's what either of them were going for. The main thing that still troubles me, though, is the idea of outcasts. I get that this is a different Addamsverse, but in either the series or the movies, the Addams Family never thought of themselves as outcasts, or that they in any way needed a safe space for monsters. They barely even thought of themselves as "non-traditional". The other thing that I'm still working to get past, and I feel I have to chalk it up to the youthfulness of the character, is Wednesday consistently falling for red herrings and getting focused on finding facts to support her jumping to conclusion after conclusion.
Amusing bits, kind of drags at the end. So this means Kelly was going out with a car thief. That tracks.
So. Much. Snogging! Welcome back, all of you! It’s like putting on one of Nick’s jumpers.
Totally didn’t end how I thought, where there’d only be a few bucks in the gift card.
And now we wait again. I really tried to make it last this time. At least I was able to parcel it out over four days.
Surprisingly touching, but for some reason I had trouble buying Linda’s obsession with the tree.
Okay, I really like James. Great addition to the cast and further differentiates Isaac from Aled.
As far as coming out episodes go, that was better than a lot. It only works because of pro sports being so homophobic though. But having George Hearn on the closing credits was brilliant.
Hearing the Mayhem play a Kiss cover is apparently all I ever wanted and I just never knew it. And then a new version of Can You Picture That? swoon Some of the new performers are a little tough to get used to, and Dr Teeth is a little too laid back, but he is an aging rock star at this point, I guess.
Nice twist that would make Hitchcock proud.
Workers unite! I’m surprised I haven’t seen socialist memes of Buffy standing with the hammer and sickle in this episode. I really wanted her to say she was the Slayer and see the demons freak out.
Never thought an episode of Bob’s Burgers would make me tear up, but so much of this episode is absolutely heart wrenching.
So weird to see Amy Adams in roles like this back then.
I can only imagine a school trip to Paris that you get to by bus.
And I thought the first episode was dire. It’s just going to keep spiraling, isn’t it? Olivia Colman is brilliant, as usual.
Okay, first, don’t tease me with an Ab Fab episode and not deliver. At least we have a guest voice by Jane Lynch.
Mostly Godzilla, but a little bit Alien, down to the creepy scientist and a conspiracy, although governmental instead of corporate (is there a difference?)
Willow crying hit me a lot harder than I thought it would. This was a pretty angsty one.
What if Up All Night, but Buffy? And we’ll make it Buffy-lite and focus on Xander. And wow, I totally forgot that Xander’s first was Faith.
This bit of slayer lore just feels a little too made up. I mean, any Slayer that makes it to 18 should have already been tested ad nauseum, and what does 18 have to do with anything historical anyway?
The high point is Dick on the phone. It’s just nice rewatching this, like a warm blanket on a New England winter night.
I’m not a Fred Armisen fan, but wow, does he rock it as Fester.
Okay, I thought bringing in old characters was great, but really it was the Vista Cruiser was what I was waiting for.
James Marsters really does kick ass all over David Boreanaz in terms of characterization. Really upping the ante in terms of teen drama.
Nice nails. Spike’s nails are one of the more interesting parts of this episode. Maybe I’m just not getting down with the existential angst in this one this time around.
That sonic looks fun. I wonder how many settings it has.
It feels like this episode is way more relevant now than it really should be.
This is what Inception should’ve been.
Dig that crazy score. Keeping Pon Farr secret seems to be illogical.
Does UC Sunnydale only hire assholes for professors?
