Can the guy working in the library become a recurring character, please?
Nice nails. Spike’s nails are one of the more interesting parts of this episode. Maybe I’m just not getting down with the existential angst in this one this time around.
The insults were clever but overall it wasn’t working for me. All the Simpsons working together in the yard seemed a little farfetched, even for the cartoon, so it makes sense that it was a dream sequence.
An interesting episode to come back to after such a long absence for me; it was the first of three episodes available for me to watch on a Sun Country flight. Hysterical fight choreography, almost like an actually funny version of Itchy and Scratchy.
Better then the first episode and I like that they’re already developing some lore.
I’d been wondering about this and it wasn’t until I’m on a Sun Country flight where I had to find stuff that had subtitles available that I got around to checking it out. I like the voice cast and the vibe is similar to Bob’s Burgers, but the characters haven’t grown on me yet.
Oh my, how big was Jackie’s hair in the pilot?
Surprisingly touching, but for some reason I had trouble buying Linda’s obsession with the tree.
If they reuse this script in Three’s Company it’ll be interesting to see how what they do with Maurice and his fiend.
So we finish out the series with possibly one of the weirdest episodes, doing a Freaky Friday shtick. Would’ve been better if the actress did Shatner’s pauses.
Again, some interesting changes from this script to the US version. I really must start cataloging these.
What better name from a librarian than A to Z?
It’s always so weird to see house calls, like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Interesting to see how the script got updated for the US series four years later.
This whole episode is just kind of awkward.
Ah the pot joke. I think this script definitely got reused in the US version.
Larry gets introduced in the the 4th episodes of both series, but with different scripts this time.
The first episode with someone overhearing something through the kitchen door and thinking it was something inappropriate. Took until the fourth episode. I wonder if anyone has ever figured out how often that happens.
I will always remember the “with Scotch tape”, line. I didn’t realize it came so soon!
Was Chrissy supposed to be King Kong or Godzilla?
The rock alien is one of the best we’ve seen in the series and it comes right before the end. The rest of the makeup for this episode, though…
Some nice changes from the script of the similar Man About the House episode. Interesting that a cab fare was 48p in London in ‘73 and $2.75 in the LA area in ‘77.
Definitely remember this plot from Three’s Company. There’s a podcast in marking out the differences in remakes for different markets just waiting to be made.
So much of this script got reused by the pilot for Three’s Company. It’s interesting to compare the differences.
The rabbit holes one goes down to revisit a classic episode like this. Strictly Come Dancing to Dancing With The Stars to a YouTube video of Suzanna Somers dancing the foxtrot to the Three’s Company theme song on a recreation of the sitcom set. And it’s as funny as ever. I should watch the pilot of Man About The House next.
Another episode with a strong message. And people thought Chibnall got preachy during the Whitaker run.
Kirk is so the Man. That was some musical number.
Star Trek does Forbidden Planet. Just waiting for an invisible monster to show up.
The camera operators and effects crew were really earning their paychecks in this episode.
Why a zombie episode? It’s always a zombie episode. Interesting that they let you see the paint.
