The French scientist is actually modeled after Jacques Vallee, a known UFO researcher.
This includes some obscure parts of UFO lore surrounding alien abductions including missing time and alien implants. That must have taken some research on their part. It's easy today with a Google search but back then it required some more serious research.

I like this series. Not from the standpoint that I believe aliens did all that in the past but to see archaeological mysteries around the world. I even believe in UFO's, and probably some people in the past saw some and wondered. I just don't believe that built all those structures which is told in the series.

I had a sleep paralysis only once in my life. The period when I had it I was “haunted” by poltergeist-like phenomena (which I experienced while fully awake over a period of several years),
Due to my own experience I don’t think the science explanation with hallucinations makes sense. This is something else but why it happens and why particular people experience it I don’t know.
This is not for me. It seems to target an American audience although it is shown on Netflix in other countries as well.
