It's boring after 30 minutes of watching it. The acting is garbage, after seeing so much movies with Dwayne Johnson you think he would shine. But his acting was just as trash as all of the other actors. Like no one cares in the movie. Terrible!!!

The worst & ridiculous film in 2018
Token humour, token action, token special effects all earn a token rating.
Admittedly, Rampage was better then I'd feared (and I feared quite a lot--after all, I've seen Geostorm) but despite having enough action to keep me awake it never succeeds in rising above the mediocre in any area. A for effort, but 5 for a score.
There's a reason that Sy Fy Channel comes up with 35 giant animal movies a year. They are fun. Here's one with good effects, A List talent and a budget. Don't expect smarter...expect bigger! Chicago takes a beating in this movie...so that's a bonus! Sit back, turn brain into "off" position and enjoy the ride. Certainly lived up to expectations...just didn't exceed them. 7/10

This is an ok distraction, what you would expect from the usual Z monster movies, but with the budget to make it look (very) good. Maybe even too much budget, that allowed them to include many over the top cliche action scenes instead of focusing on the monster action.
I mean did it really need a 0G space scene ? Parachuting from a crashing plane ? And a B2 bomber ? I was a little disappointed in what was supposed to be the climax, city battle and monsters battle, so a little more attention to that instead would have been better. More military action in the city battle for instance, lots of tanks, some fighter jets, etc. (though jets are maybe not great for city fights ?)
And what's with the B2 ? What's the point of using the most expensive ever furtive plane during the day to send a missile on animals from several kilometers away ? Did they fear they had radars ?
The first wolf battle is nice though, and the crocodile looks AMAZING. The SURPRISE: the wolf can fly was a nice touch too.
The interaction between The Rock and the gorilla is nice. Can't say the acting is that great, so it feels a little weird, nut it makes for some funny jokes.
Morgan's character is really cool, though he's just that. He's clearly been written with a description: "cool cowboy, rough guy but nice, smart enough to be on the right side". That's it, nothing more. His background, job, role and interactions with the rest of the characters are inexistant or makes no sense with no questions asked.
The really bad part is the antagonists. There we go way beyond cliche. Typical rich guys, ready to go beyond what is legal or moral to make money. They apparenlty lead a billion dollars corporation, able to have its own space laboratory, though we barely see any employee, They seem to be the only ones in control and who knows all the nad stuff. But at the same time they're the stupid duo you would expect in a Home Alone level comedy. And the result is weird. The sister is definitely shown to be tougher, but she just looks that way compared to her brother. She might have been an ok character if by herself. But he's so stupid and useless and played so badly that it's painful to watch each scene he is in. It's bleeding bad (non) writing through the screen. And none of what they do makes any sense. Hey, let's make all the monsters come right tot the top of our building. What could go wrong ?
Naomie Harris' character is nonexistent. You could litterally remove her and not a thing would change in the movie. Her only useful action is to put the antidote on Claire before she's eaten which is a great wtf because we've never seen George have any interest in eating people so how could it have been a viable strategy ? It would have been much more likely that he'd just punch her out of the building and out goes the antidote.
I was also surprised by the intro declaring CRISPR a WMD but I checked and some US officials actually referred to it as one. Don't think it's been officially categorized this way though.
Rampage is the film that everyone was expecting it to be. Tonally uneven with side characters that get introduced and die in their 5 minutes of screen-time and cheesy dialogue. The best part of the film is the great chemistry between a 45-year-old WWE personality-turned-actor and a 7-10 ft computer-generated gorilla and the humour the follows, which is the only collection of jokes that consistently work in the film.
The last 30 minutes I personally had fun with due to it being a distraction from the stream of scientific terminology and plot explanations yet it’s still the generic blockbuster popcorn fare with enough destruction and explosions to make Michael Bay happy.

Overall, Rampage is a fun, mindless action film, but not much more.

This is a lot of fun. Dwayne Johnson plays this perfectly. He's as big and tough as the monsters that he fights. He delivers some funny lines in the midst of all the chaos. I about fell off my couch when a giant crocodile crawls out of Lake Michigan and totally deadpan, he says "Well, that sucks". It doesn't sound funny but it was.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is weird at first as Agent Russell, but by the middle of the movie, settles in as a likable hero. Malin Akerman is as evil a villain as you can get. Demetrius Grosse is the stubborn military commander. Everyone is painted with as broad of a brush as possible. The motivations of the bad guys makes no sense but it keeps the good guys moving.
The action is great. The monsters smash their way into the city and destroy a lot of buildings, military equipment, etc. There really isn't a sense of danger established, but some people are caught in the crossfire even though the effort is made to evacuate. A good chunk of downtown Chicago gets in the way of the beasts.
I'd say this movie has a heart, primarily because of the relationship between David (Johnson) and George the gorilla. Others are cannon fodder for that relationship which the film makers try to alleviate with a scene in which the main characters discuss how many lives George saved after the dust settles. I suppose some movie watchers need that kind of justification for such wanton destruction.
This isn't going to win any awards but I liked it. I've always been a fan of giant monster movies, from Godzilla to Gamera to King Kong. These types of movies aren't made to be dissected for greater meaning (with a few exceptions, like the original "Godzilla"). There have been a lot of these sorts of movies released lately and even if they're as dumb as "Rampage" was, I say keep the fun coming.
Do you want a fun romp where massive animals smash and tear up cities while Dwayne Johnson chases after as a primatologist with special forces training? Great, this is exactly that film.
It does require one to turn off their brain because stepping back even in a single foot to look at the wider perspective of this film will break a lot of the fun, but if you know what you are signing up for this is fun enough.
It may even work as a Sunday evening escapist fun, just do not care about the script, the logic, and the narrative coherence of events.
Really fun, met my expectations, Dwayne did an amazing job once again, a solid 8/10.
perhaps because of the low expectation, the film has surprised me so much. Was really intrigued at how they could create a plot with something as simple as the game was. Achieved.

Rampage was a fun action movie, but not much more. If you're looking for a monster movie with ok acting and good comedic relief, this is one of those.
George (the gorilla) and Dwayne Johnson are the stars of the show, but the rest of the cast falls a bit short in my opinion.
A bit of unnecessary adult humor at times for what otherwise could have been a pretty family friendly action flick.
Overall, I think it's a fun action movie for a slightly older crowd.
Yes I give this movie and 8. I do enjoy Dwayne Johnson's movies. This movie was so far fetched but very entertaining. The graphic effects were well done. It shows how humans just can't mind their business. There is an experiment that gets loose and effects some animals, including a gorilla thats in the care of Davis (Johnson). So needless to say it's a kind of movie that requires a hero -- the Rock to the rescue!!
Entertaining and likable popcorn movie. That is better than it has a right to be. I mean when playing the arcade at like 11 yrs old there wasn't much to it. Just creatures destroying buildings. Yet they managed to make it a decent movie. Dwayne Johnson and Jeffrey Dean Morgan "in Negan form without Luchile or zombies" helped make the film fun.
The rich snobby villains who helped create what makes the animals giant felt out of place almost though. Like they belonged in a soap opera or an episode of Supergirl. Malin Akerman was better in the Final Girls, here she's not that great. Jake Lacy as her brother is even worse.
Johnson seeming to forget his character has a gun shot wound was also silly. Otherwise Rampage, like the Tomb Raider reboot is one of the better video game movies.
A silly, dumb fun action movie. It's exactly what you expect. The effects are good. The start is slow and it can drag a little but the final fight is worth it. The plot is silly but don't try to pick at it. The Rock was born for these roles. Jeffery Dean Morgan was basically playing Negan from The Walking Dead, I'm convinced that is just who he is now. It is a good movie to watch while having a few beers.

Under what circumstances did "that" hand sign enter Davis' and George's conversation? There's more to that relationship than meets the eye.
This is pure stupid and generic fluff, but I can't say I was bored watching it.

Dwayne Johnson is entertaining as always and the chemistry between him and George the Gorilla is very good, but some of the humor and emotional elements didn't work for me.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is literally playing Negan in this movie. He even dose the lean back and the slow tone talking. Still, he's enjoying every moment of it and easiest the most enjoyable part of the movie.
However, the scenes with Malin Akerman and Jake Lacy are really bad, because both of them can't act and inputs the fast pace. Why couldn't the infected animals be the main villains and no one else?
Overall rating: It's not a great movie or even a good one, just terribly fun. Like, there's nothing that's going to stick with me in terms of being memorable. It is what it is, I guess.

As the name suggest, the movie shows how the some creatures tear appart a city with civilization. The VFX is quiet superlative and movies is filled with action sequences throughout the course of its runtime. Now this movies is not for those who expect storytelling , brilliant acting or drama but is an all out entertainment show which you can watch with a bucket full of popcorns and still you will enjoy it.
Director Brad Peyton has enough chunks of thrilling action sequences which you can enjoy in your big TVs. Dwayne Johnson has again proved why he is considered to be a bankable star when it comes to commercial success of a movie in Hollywood. He is dazzling and with a mix of humour his character charms you away with his mere presence. I am extremely grateful that a actor as fine as Jeffrey Dean Morgan is getting frontline roles who is a brilliant actor (Walking Dead Fame).

News flash: shallow, one-dimensional video games make for shallow, one-dimensional movies. Between the dull, overplayed storytelling devices, awful script, budget special effects and barren acting performances, I'm not even sure if an honest effort was made to fight that tide.
The Rock is energetic and charismatic in the lead role, but the Rock basically excretes refined energy and charisma, so we can't count that in Rampage's favor. It's fair to say the second most-memorable performance is delivered by an unconvincing computer-generated albino gorilla with a complete mastery of nuanced human communication (he and Dwayne supposedly correspond via sign language, but half the time they don't even bother pointing those gestures at each other) so one can safely assume that the phone will remain silent on the eve of this year's Academy Award nominations.
If the filmmakers had spent half as much time on the plot as they did in force-feeding the original 1986 arcade cabinet into various backgrounds... well, it still probably wouldn't have made a whole lot of sense. My kids seemed to have a good time, and they're big fans of the game, so I guess it deserves partial credit for that.
One of the (doubtful ?) advantages of paying for any streaming service is that you might watch movies you probably wouldn't otherwise. While I admit that I have come across some really good ones this way I'll also say this isn't quite one.
Within the confines of its genre it's not the worst I've ever seen. Of course you need your expectations checked before watching a movie based on a video game and starring Dwayne Johnson. It's a generic story following a genre blueprint with stereotype charcaters. A senseless spectacle so to say. If you're looking for that you needn't look any further.
A real downer was the CGI, as this movie rather looks like 2008 then 2018.

I liked the storyline. Not believable in the slightest but it was clever and a good premise.
The Rock does what he does and Naomie Harris was a treat. Jeffrey whatshisface played a silly overblown redneck. The rest of the cast were hamming it up to their stereotypes. The army guy who just won't listen...
Anywho... The bad bit.
The special effects are pretty ropey. The animals look great but some of the interactions are very sketchy.
I enjoyed this for the popcorn, mindless action and fun that it is. No complaints here after enjoying this viewing.

This is the single best video game to movie adaptation ever made. Very predictable, but self-aware and loads of fun.
Many special effects and a lot of noise. the film hardly makes any sense and the characters are very blurred and poorly planned.
This video game adaptation should have been sillier, with more focus on monster bashing, and less focus on (sigh) The Rock. Entirely disposable, and surprisingly boring at times.
Good action movie. You won't get bored.
I hope the make sequels.... do it like game and put it to different cities and what not

Sure it's totally ridiculous, but it's good amount of popcorn fun. How sad is it, that Rampage, I repeat RAMPAGE gave us one of the best video game adaptations to date?! The Rock sure goes a long way to make these ludicrous movies entertaining.

When I first saw this I instantly thought this was just a movie plainly combining Godzilla and King Kong, at least that's how it looked like from the trailer. I firstly really wanted to watch it 'cause I really wanted to see how this type of plot will play out and secondly, Dwayne Johnson is in it.
The starting of the movie was partially cute, because of the relationship between Davis and George, but also really irritating because of Brett and Claire. I was so annoyed and found the reason behind the creation of that virus, serum or whatever ridiculous. I mean, why would you want to create a monster that is aggressive and kills everything? I would understand it more if it was the virus that affected people, but this makes less sense to me. Both were with the same goal, and that is for them to be the heroes that will deliver the cure. But it's still just ridiculous and, at least to me, kinda unrealistic. To me, they were more like villains from some superhero movie, where I wouldn't be surprised by such choices. I know it would probably a cliche if the cause was like a virus that was supposed to be something good and it just took a wrong turn (which it actually could have been, cause the formula was originally created with the purpose of curing Kate's brother). Like for example it reacted well with humans but reacted badly with animal DNA.
Some scenes were kinda just childish, but there weren't too many so it's fine. I loved the combination of action and comedy in the movie, mostly coming from interactions between George and Davis. I loved George's good-hearted and teenage-like character. The effects and the CGI were really good. And in the end, I was really pleased with the plot. It didn't really blew me away but it was a good movie. (Though I don't really see how there will be a positive outcome in the after the movie plot. I mean, yeah obviously George is fine now and as it was seen in the last scene one of the people that were in the crushed building trusted him enough to climb on his hand and for George to deliver him down to the ground. But honestly, I highly doubt that everybody would be trusty like that and kind of would expect them to demand for George to be put down cause they would will fear him. Soo yeah...I don't really see a happily ever after for George, even though it probably was a happily ever after in that movie's universe at least I kind of feel like that was what was indicated by that last scene of George helping a man down)

Great fun movie, one for the popcorn viewers. The sound and bass is spectacular and the two hours flies by. Definitely worth watching but it has The Rock - so you know what to expect - you won't be disappointed!
This was a damn fun film to watch. The story line is, as you might expect, a little lacking. But the Rock and Jeffrey Dean Morgan make it much more than I expected. There's destruction, a giant gorilla and a lot of explosions. Worth watching if you don't want to think too hard about what's happening.
I like this movie madly
This film works on only one level: B-film Summer Mindless Popcorn Flick. Walk in with any sort of expectations other than that and you will be disappointed. The film moves at a surprisingly quick pace and the action is paced just right that there aren't many slow spots in the film. The special effects were quite good for the film. The battle in Chicago was a visual effects beast (Pun? Maybe.)
Dwayne Johnson is Dwayne Johnson in the film, he carries the film well and I don't think the movie would have worked without him being in it. Naomie Harris was good also in the film, but not given enough to work with. The real star of the film is Jeffrey Dean Morgan who's cowboy-like Agent Russell is fantastic -- Morgan chews through each scene he's in and he was so much fun to watch that when he wasn't onscreen, I wished that he was. The only person that feels completely out of place in the film is Jake Lacy, who I can see as the comedic relief, but he hams it up so badly that it does not work and becomes quite annoying.
Go into the film without much expectations other than to be entertained via a quick-paced, visual effects laden action film and you'll walk out with a smile on your face. This movie is fun.

A straight forward action movie where three animals become genetically engineered by accident and how they battle it out. Do not expect rich story in this movie, but the movie will remind you on movies like King Kong, Godzilla and other creature / monster movies. Rock did his part well. Watch this movie without considering logic, as it would be more fun. Check out the building climbing crocodile and also the flying fox! It was fun, simple said. 7/10
