Intolerable. Really bad acting overall. Ridiculous writing. Girls are in front of a demon and are scared of a mouse. In the middle of action they pause to deliver one liners. Full of forced social issues in the script that have little to do with the plot line. Romantic interests always seem to stumble in at the wrong times. Feeble attempt at comedy set up by unimaginative writing.
Where it really feels cheap is when the writers try to force in current trends and social issues. Referring to DMing someone, snapping selfies or with lines of dialogue where characters refer to their sorority as being "woke" or saying "being a witch is a fully pro-choice enterprise". It's trying too hard to be current and it will just end up dating it. Rather than focus on story and characters the twitter-aged writers are focusing on being trendy and topical writing in scenes where the girls attend a #MeToo rally while foregoing all attempts at creating a good narrative.
It's disappointing that they would set-up that the election of Donald Trump is the first part of a three-step process presaging the apocalypse. Like award shows, your opinions and politics don't need to be included in your shows. I don't care about them. I am here to watch television to be entertained or informed not listen to your agenda whether I agree with it or not does not matter. I don't want to hear it. Focus on your art and craft and get off your soapbox.
Production value is flat, effects are cheesy. One character likes to recite her knowledge of science ad-naseum and Harry is annoying and unlikable.
Big fan of the original. This is nowhere near as good. Didn’t like the script, the story is all over the place...
And the “sisters” from three different ethnicities? I mean, I get trying to be inclusive or no offend anyone, but it doesn’t make sense.
Oh, and the ludicrous whitelider... come on!
As a super-fan of the original I have to say...I actually didn't hate it. The acting and tone was much more mature than the trailer implied it would be. The writers made some interesting plot and character choices, the changes were welcome, the premise works. Although not all the jokes land and the effects in the final fight reeked of CW superhero show, for a pilot it was a solid start. The actresses as well do a great job of being likable while still leaving room for growth with their parts. The cliffhanger was an interesting turn excited to see where it goes.
This show has definitely lost it's charm. I was really hoping to find some of the spirit of the first iteration but as the "CW" logo in the corner would already tell you... it's just a generic/cheesy fantasy show now with nothing to show for it. The new sisters have a dynamic I just don't care much about and where as the Halliwell's had a lot to work on, including their powers these ladies already decide after the first episode that they have to science the heck out of magic (which hardly ever comes up anymore). No one really cares about the "Book of Shadows" anymore (which was turned into a voice activated search device) or exploring witchcraft since their power level is just too convenient (and that is not even relying on the power of three). Heck, they even added in Phoebe's premonition power in form of a device now... Maybe it's because I'm bored at this point but they really cram a lot into the episodes but it's all moot story threads. There have been multiple episodes now with major mood whiplashes too so yeah... it's bad; and this is not even mentioning the "woke" writing which can be in a league of it's own. I should have dropped this way sooner...
really? this shit show got a second season? what's wrong with this world? glad I dropped it after 7 episodes.... omg horrible.
One of the most terrible shows I've ever seen.
does anybody need a remake?
Loved the original, showed how women can be strong, confident and powerful, This is more how much wokeness can I put in this show? Doesn't matter they will add more. The original the show was more related to women, this one the whole script is forced, the relationships and love intests seem clanky, have to try and ad horrible one liners here and there hoping for a comedy effect that ads nothing to the show.
If you like shows where 80% of the casts are gay, and you liked wokeness being shoved down your throat almost at every possible point and you haven't seen the original then you will prolly really enjoy this show where everyone seems to get offended at everything, everyone seems to be really seems awkward. Basically opposite of the original.
Honestly, how did this going beyond one season? Season 4 in the making, how's that possible?
I'm re-watching the original, it's soooooooo much better than this, even the 90s early 00s cgi isn't much worse :)
Sorry thumbs down for this show, hate it
i loved the original and love this version very much. there are some shoutouts to the original, the sisters are very likeable and fun characters. the show comments on some issues regarding feminism and race which is very positive, reminds me of black lightning in this manner, as it is not superficial but simply part of the girls everyday life. love the fact that we have an out and proud gay witch. cant wait for more fun demon hunting, im already charmed.
I am not watching it anymore. Same old, same old.
Disclaimer : I have nothing against femininism and I would love to live in a world where everyone has equal rights.
But this utter trash reboot cannot have one minute without "men bad, women rulezz".
It makes so much sense to point out that "the demon feasts for millenia on strong, indepent women".
What a complete joke and disgrace it is, tarnishing great memories I had of the original.
I stopped after the first episode and so should you.
Had enough. It's a no from me. I tried. 3x2 was the lest episode for me.
Okay.. so I almost didn’t finish s1 bc how TRASH the cgi and acting was sometimes. I gave it a chance and watched till the end of season (which surprisingly I enjoyed). S2 a bit better.. acting especially from girl who plays Mel still sh*t at times. Point is.. obvi it doesn’t compare to original and I know this comment made no selling points but it’s actually decent.
Couldn’t they have just saved Witches of East End or the Secret Circle instead ? Needed another Charmed since the original lacked diversity. Or a character that is like someone of current times, who’s offended by everything lol.
Decent if you liked the original but still unnecessary. Fans of Buffy and Charmed rather have continuations.
Reboots these days are not to please fans of the originals but to please people who think everything needs to be more PC. This is no different.

all said.
Its a CW show. you already know how every episode/season is gonna go.
There are expected to be 25 episodes with the unproduced episodes of the second season airing as part of the third season. The season is set to premiere sometime in January 2021.
Karaoke scene reminded me strangely of homeland scene where Brody is celebrating with his hands stuff only Claire Danes picks up on.
Second part or found was like pLL hints with button pressing.
A very good first season, much better than the original.
I had my reservations, at first. Turns out the show is actually fun to watch.
I enjoyed the original Charmed but I couldn't really remember much from the old show because I was so young when it aired. Past the new Charmed's obvious quirks, the show is actually quite... charming.

Seeing the cast, I'm asking myself which of the parents was the unfaithful one, since they clearly don't have the same parents.
Couldn't they at least have the same ethnicity (Don't really care which).
