The fact that the studio ever forced us to watch the 2017 version instead of this is a crime. The 2017 version of Justice League looks like garbage compared to this and I originally enjoyed it, there were major flaws and got worse each viewing but that there was fun to be had but these two movies are not even on the same level. The Synder cut of this movie doesn’t have as much comic relief or bright colors but that’s a great thing this movie felt like how it was visioned it didn’t feel like two different directors. For one Stephenwolf isn’t that bad as a villain anymore and yes he was bad in the original but now we get backstory and motivation and he even looks a little better not much better but a little. It’s crazy how much footage wasn’t in the movie or how many scenes were trimmed and how massive of a difference it made. This movie still feels a little rushed even through the 4 hours because at the time of this movie we hadn’t been introduced to Cyborg, Aquaman, or Flash and a lot of times in this movie they tell stories or voiceover to give backstory or explain things which is better than having to guess but would’ve been better if the DCEU was set up better to begin with but I can’t blame that on Zack Synder. All of the characters feel more authentic and are given more screen time. This movie satisfied me as fan and as a critic and I hope the positive feedback will allow us to get a part 2.
Where do I start? I believe it’s kinda of an unspoken rule that a movie must earn its runtime especially when it’s longer than 2 hrs and I don’t think Wonder Woman 1984 did that at all. This movie did not feel like it needed to be this long and even with that being said it consistently saves time with lazy storytelling. How they bring Steve back, Cheetahs powers, Maxwell Lords powers all conveniently explained with one thing. Which brings me to my next point Maxwell Lord. Just because you hire a good actor doesn’t mean they’re gonna nail the role cause at the end of the day u have to work with what they write and poor Pedro Pascal was written terrible and I don’t blame his performance but I do blame his character more than anything for this movie being bad but Maxwell Lord isn’t the only thing to blame for this movies failure. In case I didn’t make it apparent Maxwell Lord is awful in this movie, and I was actually pleasantly surprised with Cheetah not that cheetah was great but I just figured she’d be awful but Kristen Wig did pretty good. It wouldn’t be a Patty Jenkins film without a fish out of water element and a horrendous third act so let’s bring Steve back and attempt humor from something we’ve only seen a hundred times and even in the predecessor and just make the movie nearly intolerable for the third act. To be quite honest this movie probably gets a bit to much hate because they’re are plenty of superheroes films with horrible villains, lazy writing, and predictable and cheesy storytelling that don’t get trashed on like this movie but that doesn’t change the fact that it seemed this movie went out of its way to be bad. I simply think if you remove Maxwell Lord from this film you have a much better movie. Obviously some rewriting will need to be done because he is a major part of this movie simply Wonder Woman vs Cheetah would’ve been much better even without Steve Trevor.
As to be expected the action is phoneomeal, but expecting great action dosen't even begin to describe some of the action and fight scenes in this film it's truly amazing. Now im gonna get into somewhat {spoiler} territory because as great as this film is and as phoneomeal as the action is this film has flaws. The movie is quite long and as entertaining as it is most of the time it can drag at times. That being said while the movie was going on I was thinking I hope they wrap this up in the third even tho I enjoy all 3 John Wick's they all take place in a short spand of time so the story does seem to standstill a lot of times so the action can take place which can be annoying. Although im sure i'll watch John Wick 4 and probably really enjoy it it's time for this franchise to wrap up it's getting to the point where it's been 5 years since the first movie and we've seen about 2 weeks worth of events happen and it still feels like were not very close to the end. This one in particular did probably the worst in storytelling due to action being the only thing really keeping the storyline moving. Don't mean to talk this negative about the film because I did enjoy it I just don't really like the way the franchise is going it seems the studio would rather get another paycheck than tell the story correct.
This is a phoneomeal second film by Jordan Peele, and if u had asked me right after I saw the film I might of preferred "Us" over "Get Out" even though "Us" is a phoneomeal film I think Get Out was much better made. The more you think about this movie the more flaws you find, things are left for interpretation and not everything is fully explained, I also wasn't crazy about the ending I was fine with it just not crazy about it. Those things do hurt this film but at the same time those are the only problems I can find and this film is still going to get a very high rating due to everything that was good. All of the performances are great, every single one espically Lupita Nyong'o. The score and soundtrack is amazing and really excels this film. Before they meet their doppelgangers the movie is paced very well and very intriguing, and once they meet their doppelgangers it's an intense, scary ride on the edge of your seat for the rest of the movie. Although I wish this movie didn't leave certain things unexplained, it's still a phoneomeal film that is easily the best film of the year, so far in my opinion.
"How I Met Your Mother" has one of the worst endings in tv no entertainment history. What a slap in the face to everybody who watched this show for 9 years and yet this show still has a 9 out of 10 for me. Why is that? Because I truly believe this is one of the best shows of all time so many good quotes and catchphrases and running gags and this show is so memorable and you love all the characters so much and you always feel weird when a show you love ends but when it ends like this you are just so angry and upset. I had heard that people were very angry about the ending of this show but I thought that was because they didn't like the mother and thought Ted and Robin should end up together turns out it was the total opposite. Ted and Robin were never electric togther they had they're moments but weren't even close to Barney and Robin. The last few seasons still have great episodes but the writing descions as a whole were terrible. I wasn't sure what they were pushing having Barney and Robin engaged but still hinting that Ted and Robin had feelings for each other it was like COME ON MAKE A DESCION and I thought they were just gonna have bad writing hinting those feelings and have them both end up with someone else but the writers said no lets have terrible writing. You spend literally an entire season with Robin and Barney's wedding AN ENTIRE SEASON then in the next episode were told they get divorced. Nobody gives a crap about Ted and Robin now you have barney pretty much depressed but hiding it, Tracy dead who I loved btw all for a couple nobody even shipped.
It's hard to make a good sports movie and I know this movie is based off a book and all but that dosen't mean I have to like the way everything goes in the movie. I mean this movie was just to out of the ordinary but with a tone that said it wanted to be simple. {SPOILERS} I mean the dude gets shot because he wanted to be the best baseball player who ever lived? Jump to 16 years later... wait are we not going to talk about that or..? Then this movie dives into luck a lot with the lighting bolt on his bat and the tree that was struck by lighting which the bat was made out of, and the lighting patches on jerseys which made the team all play better then a curse when he starts seeing this one girl and then something about a bet with a manager or someone and him also trying to pay players to make the game go a certain way. I mean come on if you want to go those directions with the movie go there just stop just poking these ideas then moving onto the next thing. If it wasn't for Redford and Glenn Close this movie would be even a travesty.
What's the point? Is a question " A Serious Man" dives into, Are there consquences to our actions? Do we control our own fate and what happens to us? Im not sure how to feel about this movie the acting is great, the score is really good and the movie is indecisive. It has this constant build up of not necessarily waiting for something terrible to happen but smaller scale wondering what's the point of everything going on and what's it leading to. Now {spoilers} events happen in this movie and then the movie just kinda ends which I can appreciate and hate at the same time because in life there isn't always a worthy conclusion sometimes things happen and then then you move on to the next thing without it coming back up again or life just ends. I watched an analysis video of this movie after watching to see if I was missing something and this movie is very subtle for what it's going for almost too subtle to the point where I blame the coen brothers for not getting across the point they were trying to make but at the same time im amazed by what they did. I feel like I could give this movie anywhere from a 5 to 10 on anyday it's definitely something i'll have to revist at somepoint to see how much I appreciate it after knowing everything going in.
Very interesting film, I don't really follow politics and even if I did im not old enough to remember anything about Dick Cheney. This is back to back films by Adam McKay who is mainly a comedy director to do a movie that kinda is based off maybe not the most easily understood subjects and he does a good job trying to make it simple and easy to understand for us, but also this movie struggles to pick a tone and constantly jumps back and forth between tones and time which brings me to the editing of the film. Vice has some of the strangest editing i've seen to the point where you question what's going on and soon you understand and I think the idea was to make the story more simple and help you visualize what was actually going on but it would take me out of the story to much. Christain Bale and Amy Adams are both great in this movie, Steve Carell is also really good, Sam Rockwell is alright nothing to good I mean not oscar nominee good not even close but apparently the academy thought otherwise anyway movie has it's moments of either being really good or just sloppy.
