Legend has it, that the script took forever to finish. Every time they finished a line, it disappeared
Futurama at its finest. The Twilight Zone-esque vibe of the mystery, the creative animation and superb score with all the bees and dreamscape scenes, and emotional core of Leela's guilt and fear were all perfectly calibrated for this episode. All the little callbacks make the episode feel a bit like a series finale, and if it had been, I wouldn't feel shortchanged. But still, just a mind-bending episode that kept the audience on its toes but still managed to be funny as hell.
I've played LoL on a handful of occasions throughout the years but never enough to be familiar with the world/lore. So I went into this show pretty much blind and with little expectations because of previous games to TV adaptions.
But boy were my expectations completely blown out of the water. Everything in the first three episodes was damn near perfect. Animation. Score/soundtrack. Voice acting. World building. Captivating Story. Interesting Characters. Fucking insane. I cannot wait for the next episodes.
Absolutely fantastic. I will admit that I hesitated at first, but then I thought why not give it a try. Gloomy and eerie, but good at it. The music throughout the series is really well chosen; it fits perfectly well. The writing is also top notch, as is the acting. You can either have it in English sound or in German sound with English subtitles. Honestly I wasn't bothered at all with the English sound, so if that's your thing you will be able to enjoy the series just fine (maybe you'll also be slightly less distracted as opposed to reading subtitles). Personally I chose the German sound, as it felt more natural.
Honestly, give it a try. Might very well be the best series I've watched this year.
EDIT: Binged season 2 in a sitting. Just wow. This review doesn't do it justice. And the casting...I mean, I totally thought old Ulrich was the result of CGI or something. Season 2 is best thing I've watched this year and last year included (ever?).
[7.6/10] Ahhh, the 80s guy! This is such a quotable episode, that works as a nice send-up of the Wall Street set in the outsized Futurama environment. All the efforts to inject eighties-isms into the future make for good laughs, and there’s a solid vein of “Planet Express is generally incompetent” humor there too.
In keeping with the Wall Street parody, there’s a nice story of Fry losing sight of his friends and who he is in following his slick new mentor, only to turn around and try to make things right when he realizes that it’s disrupting the closest thing to a family he has in the future. But I appreciate the cynical Futurama twist that in the end, his co-workers don’t want him to thwart the takeover because it’ll make them rich, and everyone ends up grumpy when his heartfelt speech tanks the stock price. It’s an amusing twist on the stock lose-and-regain-your-soul narrative.
It’s also just a lot of fun. The stock market/earnings report based humor is great. The 80s guy is a tremendous guest character whose every line is a laugh. And there’s some superb Mom material here too.
Overall, the jabs at the eighties here are broad in places, but on the whole, this is a breezy episode that leaves you smiling throughout and quoting long after.
Situations are too forced, acting over the top, jokes are not funny. Too awkward.
Quite possibly one of the most important sci fi sitcoms to date. Really paved the way for stuff like Rick and Morty.
Seeing a film that's won the Palme d'or at Cannes or Best Picture Oscar is like drinking a bottle of ridiculously expensive wine: with every sip you ask yourself over and over again if it deserves the price. Fortunately, Parasite is so good you won't be drinking very long because you'll be drunk on its power soon enough.
A film that crosses genres so many times it leaves a permanent mark, Parasite is a clever story performed wonderfully and directed to perfection.
Boring and lifeless. Is that stupid fake accent supposed to be German? Have they heard a German person speaking English???
Shonda Rhimes... producing garbage and brainwashing gullible white people sice, Grey's Anatomy.
Sometimes I wish I could be this dumb.
Overall this season is a slight step-down from the second, but whew that finale was the series' best. Brutal, funny, tragic, and almost unbearably suspenseful. Skarsgard's story of ancient Roman slaves is such a succinct summary of the Roy family arc. The finale even retroactively elevates the path that leads to it a bit, which is no small feat. Also, I don't care how impractical it is, Emmys for all the five Roys please.
Holy fuck. I have goosebumps. Might be the best episode of TV this year. Fucking amazing. Honestly, I can't blame Tom for what he did, he's taken so much shit from everyone, including his own wife.
I have mapped every pore on Elizabeth Moss' face by now. Today she had a blackhead on the right side.
It's becoming annoying really... A bipolar, opinionated, middle-management operative that knows everything best, does everything best, defies the system and everybody else, and gets her way... Makes CIA look like a bunch of amateurs and she's the star. Not convincing any more. Sorry to the fans.
Great show, but this episode was pretty awful. I FFWD through the singing parts. Even then, weak episode. Minus the Julia bit. Fire that writer.
Finally watched this classic!
Not bad – especially the user interfaces ;)
Watched again after a few years. Just upgraded his grade from 9 to 10!
It's generally a fun show but I don't think it depict bdsm pretty well. There's several moments where the consent of some characters was totally overlooked :(
is pretty bad for a new tv series
Mediocre. That's the word that comes to mind after I ended Season 2.
Was this so bad before as well or I just shouldn't have binge-watched The Magicians right before it?
One of the rare "Based on a true story" movies that is actually quite accurate in it's depiction. I was worried that it might "Hollywood" up the story to gain more widespread appeal but it didn't.
If you have seen Citizen Four then the general idea of the movie will be familiar, however it runs Godfather 2 style flashbacks to give more details about how everything came to be and a more personal look into Snowden's life. Which was the only thing I missed from Citizen Four, so I'm glad they chose this was to tell the story.
Acting is fantastic all around and Joseph Gordon-Levitt absolutely nailed his role. I also liked that they didn't try to over-villainise anyone (except for one occasion that was a bit over the top) and more focused on that it was just a system that was out of control, with people just "following orders".
The Mandalorian started out OK, but ended up as some half-baked, lazily written show that exist merely to lure parents to justify a Disney+ subscription. Kids get the usual Disney contents, moms get Baby Yoda, dads get Star Wars nerdy reference. The show almost feels like being made by a bunch of fanfiction writers with familiarity of the setting but zero sense of screen writing.
Nothing wrong with liking it, it's just the show appears to be all style and no substance.
Storyline shows no complexity at all. In fact, most of them are fillers. You can skip 4 of 8 episodes and you'll still understand the story just fine. Characters are completely uninteresting. None of them are developed. None of them had nuances: protagonists are morally good heroes; antagonists are one dimensional evils. The show relies only on a cute muppet and flashy action, but has zero substance. Had a potential great world-building with some details, but they chose to abandon it for rule of cool (and cute).
The "it's Star Wars, so it'll be simple" excuse commonly said by the series' defenders doesn't hold up if you actually consider other Star Wars titles such as Knights of the Old Republic, Republic Commando, Jedi Academy, Thrawn trilogy, the original and Tartakovsky's Clone Wars, and so on. Those titles are known for having remarkable storytelling; something that The Mandalorian doesn't have for its poverty of creative vision.
Much better than expected. It felt like they didn't quite know what it should be. Should it be taken seriously or not? Should it be drama or comedy or a mix of the two? Could have been real good if they had figured that out. I really liked the idea and the setting a lot. That carried the show. If you don't like the setting/idea you shouldn't watch it. It doesnt has mucch to offer aside from that but it has short episodes so you can give a try.
Incredible. I went into this blind and was blown away
I feel like I'm in the minority when I say I liked the first season better.
Don't get me wrong, this season was very enjoyable and great character development but there was something missing for me...
Not the strongest episode of the season, definitely a bit bleak for a season finale but still enjoyable to watch with some both funny and sad moments. The overall second season was good and I enjoyed it.
I am looking forward to season three and I hope that people responsible for music are going to raise the bar once again ;)
Amazing Amazing Acting across the board. The plot and characters is so moving and powerful that it reminds me of The Wire. James and Maggie were Fantastic.. there best work ever. Definitely needs more following.
Can't wait for the next season.
I wasn't expecting much out of "Free to Play", but it seems Valve did a good job. It was interesting to see what it takes to be a professional gamer.
