This episode is essentially the heart of Mad Men. One of the best episodes of any show I have seen.
What exactly happened when the Shadow King, as a spider, bit David during the fight scene, could that have possibly triggered his followed schizophrenia? In my opinion it's that what has caused David to make Syd forget ("I know what I have to do"). Also it kinda felt like the whole thing with the Shadow King still having a grasp at Division 3 and the other guys acting against David, they caused a paradox which made David actually finally turn, but only against them, not the world as they said, or at least not yet.
It took me a while to realize that Leia doesn't remind Obi-Wan of Padme, but of Duchess Satine.
That potential Joker interrogation was superb even if it's not 100% certain if it will truly be him.
I tried to like it so much, but I failed.
Yet, it made me watch the original(s) again because well there, the dialogues were genuinely good.
When the alternate surviving Lokis part ways with Sylvie and Loki, you can see the Dark Aster on the ground, left from the smoke monster.
I quickly grew tired of all the CW and ABC/CBS superhero attempts at creating a show with substance, as they mostly just fail to deliver anything else than cheesy relationship clichés with a superhero skin on top of it. Netflix'd Marvel shows are on top of that but are still not really offering what some non-superhero/supernatural shows can.
I was psyched when I ran across Legion by accident as it breaks up the genre completely by putting strong images and ideas into your mind, coupled with a surreal plot as much as its entangling soundtrack. It's not really about powers and the cliché superhero god complex like in other shows, it's more about what mark a single idea can leave on an individual, or, even better, on a group, and that's what every episode of Legion is wildly offering.
If you want to follow a straight line and see static movements, you're wrong here. Legion likes to upset order and structure with every episode, which is what the human mind tries to attach to in order to understand and feel comfortable. I can only recommend to let loose and embrace getting confused, and you will be rewarded with creative stories and stunning visuals which do not have to embrace big battles in order to impress.
Easily the best show right now as other great shows seem just too "traditional" anymore in direct comparison.
I really don't understand the fuzz. I watched this and The Gifted on the same day and even when I think that The Gifted is not (yet) on par with the other Netflixed Marvel shows, it's still worlds better than this, but this appears to be the price of being an ABC or CBS show. I can see that some actors really try to do their best but something is clearly missing.
I was sceptical in the beginning because comic adaptations are getting into fashion and some fail with the drama element. Not this one though; after 5-6 episodes I am now officially hooked and can't wait for next week's episode! The hints here and there for future character developments are fantastic and you develop a natural sense for the city of Gotham.
I guess the marketing machine totally worked on me, I got so driven into the movies today. But I gotta say, that was one awesome way to unite the X-Men movie time chaos. I really enjoyed watching it and I don't regret it. If you are even halfway interested in some Marvel stuff, you gotta see it!
Maybe it's too early to give decent reviews, but I was pretty surprised and impressed by the pilot... doesn't happen that often, at least at such an early point. I can't do anything else but to recommend at least watching the pilot, this is everything you can possibly expect from a pilot. Decent acting, great writing and a nice twist of (kind of black) humor and violence... awesome!
This show has grown with every single episode aired, and not many show succeed like that. The second season really is a blast so far, wonderful acting, visuals and script. If I were to die on one of his tables, I'd be glad that I lived long enough to see that television finally turned out good. :p
The cut and overall quality of the pilot seems good, but the story... I don't know. It's all what one would expect, people being surprised and emotionally overwhelmed by beloved dead ones who came back to life. Since ABC has a thing for picking up mystery shows with higher expectations, I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out the other way.
But I like to be proven wrong!
I'm glad I sticked with the show, season 2 added some depth I felt was missing in season 1. I used to think that Boss was more close to the political environment, with more convincing story arcs, but thanks to season 2, that show caught some serious wind and is now on par.
I hope they stick with the current pace of storytelling, for this show has not disappointed me. If you can imagine watching a political drama, just go for it. You won't regret it.
