@misnomer There is a reference in an earlier episode to her being the only one able to decipher his handwriting, and I think he got her the job at the precinct. But this is pretty thin character development.

@taygete thanks for clarifying that, as I didn't remember those details. Still, I feel that isn't enough to justify their relationship in this particular episode. Like you said, thin character development, indeed.
