A twenty year old documentary on the initial days of the personal computer industry.

As someone who lived through it, it was awesome refresher on what happened, all narrated by Robert Cringely, who at the time was a superstar technology journalist. This documentary is littered with the famous, and infamous people in IT, some who have gone to become household names, and some who only a few will recognise.

This was all set in the time when Silicon Valley was just starting, Windows was the next big thing, Microsoft was a lucky startup, IBM thought there might be some potential in computers for everyone.

And great to see the section (in Ep 03) around Xero PARC - at the time, this was where everyone wanted to work.

But overall, I wonder if anyone under 40 years old will be able to recognise the significance of this documentary series. I have used the term Personal Computer - it feels like it is such an outdated term when I can carry mobile phone to connect to the internet. Windows. But this series covers such an influential part of the modern technology world. From the work that happened during this time, the technology industry was born.
