[9.6/10] What can you say? It’s the damn Meeseeks episode. The Meeseeks is such a brilliant concept for a premise, and the fact that it can make Summer popular, make Beth a more complete woman, buy struggles in vain to take two strokes off Jerry’s golf game is an amazing bit of absurdity. The recursive quality of meeseeks summoning more meeseeks, and it “getting weird” when they live longer than they’re supposed to goes to such crazy heights. The turn being that it’s Beth who’s able to help Jerry is a nice one, and ties this otherwise unraveling bit of insanity together nicely.

But I like the other story too. Morty wanting to go on his own sort of adventure for once, and Rick crapping on it then encouraging it when he sees the rough time Morty’s having is a rare moment of sweetness (albeit twisted sweetness) between the two. (And hey, the “every tenth adventure” bit comes back!) The dark side of the candy kingdom is harrowing at times, but it fits with the show’s sense of gallows humor, and provides lots of more wild design opportunities for the series’ designers and animators.

Overall, it’s one of those episodes that truly deserves its sterling reputation.
