ABC Family needs it's collective heads examined. This show was a hit! They murdered a hit! FIrst, they give it a totally unattractive name (yeah, I get the ballerina top-knot reference, but, really!, misdirect the audience from the start, why don't you). Then, they do little-to-nothing to market it to fans of Amy Sherman-Pallaidino or GILMORE GIRLS both of which have a rabid fan base clamouring for a GILMORE revival for over 15 years (I'm a huge GILMORE GIRL fan but I only came upon this by accident, following Sutton Foster's filmography). And they cancelled it just as it was hitting it's stride. The cast is fantastic (2 x Tony winner Hutton Foster treats us with some of her Broadway hits, the young talent are all triple threats dancing/singing/acting) the writing is sharp, wittty and filled with pop-culture hooks, the dance/singing numbers are a feast. So, after a single, stunning season, what does ABC Family do - thanks it's talented creator and cast and announce it's intentions not to renew! Idiots! I give this series a 9.5 (superb) out of 10. I give ABC Family a shake of my head. [Drama, Comedy, Musical, Dance]
