[6.8/10] Wasn’t a big fan of this one. Both of the B-stories were pretty weak.

For one thing, I’m a Michel fan so I like him getting his own plotline, but I don’t know why they brought back Tobin as his foil. Michel worrying that he’s being cut out of the Dragonfly in favor of Tobin is fine as a motivator I suppose, but it all leads to him accidentally rolling Davey under the bed, which is an absurd, Full House-esque direction to go.

I’m also not crazy about the Rory/Paris/Michael York storyline here. There’s good material in Paris having the thrill of doing something a little dangerous and Rory not wanting to be an accessory, but it’s a stock storyline and pretty underdeveloped here. That said, I did get a kick out of the crazy scenes within the Yale newspaper office.

The main story fared a little better. Again, I like how the episodes shows why Lorelai and Digger would have an attraction to one another, but also why they wouldn’t work. Digger’s button down life, with his particular quirks don’t necessarily align with Lorelai’s more colorful life filled with...different quirks. But it’s endearing to see them try, and there’s definitely a spark between them.

I’m also okay with the conflict of the episode, mainly that Lorelai doesn't want to tell her parents about their relationship, but gets jealous when Digger then has to take other women to business development functions. It’s understandable on both their parts, though again, comes off like a bit of a romcom-esque “we have to keep it a secret” bit of nonsense. That said, Digger calls it out, so it’s not like the show isn’t aware even as it’s indulging in those sorts of tropes.

Overall, it’s not a bad episode of the show or anything, just sort of overwhelming and hitting story beats that I’m not crazy about.
