Watched the Ultimate cut on Netflix and it took me 3 days to finish in spurts. I was not so keen on Colin Farrell's acting but it eventually held up enough to not destroy the film. Val Kilmer and Angelina Jolie gave the best performances while a film can do no wrong with Anthony Hopkins narrating. I loved how Stone constantly reminded us of myth v. truth and that Alexander's drive was to conquer more land than his Father and he invariably became greater than his hero Achilles doing so. The final battle scene was so intense and the choice of a red filter when Alexander falls off his horse was cinematic beauty.
This is a great film worth a re-watch or two but it isn't as good as Gladiator.
