[6.7/10] Another totally overstuffed episode with way too much going on and not much in terms of progression, structure, or pacing to make it all feel cohesive. I did like Blade in this one, torn between his desire to kill all vampires and everyone around him telling him that Michael’s situation is different. But man, his romance with Officer Lee happened in about ten seconds and feels really forced.

The same goes for all the parallels the episode tries to draw between Spider-Man attempting to save Aunt May and Blade trying to find his mother. The show has yet to really be able to nail interpersonal connections, so even when Spider-Man is trying to muster all his might to save his Aunt (in a pretty contrived hostage situation), it falls flat. Similarly, there’s tons of love pentagon nonsense with Morbius/Felicia/Peter/Mary Jane/Harry, that comes off too Dawson’s Creek for me. I know those romantic entanglements have always been a central part of Spider-Man stories, but they’re just not working for me.

The action is pretty solid here though. Blade, Spidey, Morbius, and other bystanders getting into scraps pays off pretty well, even if Morbius turning into a literal man-bat (hello Batman: The Animated Series!) is a bit too much.

Overall, another weaker episode in a weaker season.
