Dropped Animes

Sad to see you dropped Paranoia Agent… and Champloo. How many episodes did you watch?

@batfos Thank you for your concern, nobody is perfect! 2 and 5 respectively, I wanted to like Champloo but I just wasn't into it...

@waldner11 Yeah… Champloo’s greatness lies in its simplicity, I think… I haven’t finished it myself.

How about Bebop? Did you like it?

@batfos Hum yeah I thought it was pretty good. My main issue with it is that I really don't like the "one episode one story" format. I was mainly interested in the main story.
By the way, I was taking a look at your profile/history and I thought it was kind of weird. You seem to have quite acquired tastes in movies but no so much in tv shows/animes. Given what you're watching now I guess you're trying to rectify that! Good luck on your binge watching. ^^
Edit : Your tv/anime is not so bad actually, I saw that a lot of bad items that you saw were actually dropped so it's fine.

@waldner11 Yeah, I’m kinda new into TV… I didn’t took it seriously as movies. Haha, thanks.

@batfos I went through that too (and kind of still am) You have to see a lot of garbage to find the good stuff! If you need some pointers maybe I could help.

@waldner11 Exactly. That would be great.

@batfos Sure, I could do that. Give me some indications as to what you want to watch (tv/animes), genres, what you like and I'll do that.
Otherwise I could compile a generic must watch (that's basically my 'Rewatch list') but they are quite a lot of them. You could also go with my ratings on show, anything that is 8 and more is great and would recommend to basically anyone.
I kind of would be interested in the same thing from you, but more for movies. I'm not sure we have quite the same tastes though (if you take a look at my ratings you'll see what I mean)

@waldner11 Currently, for series, I’m in the mood for anime. I’m not into genre. I’m basically interested in something personal, works that really made by someone, not just an entertainment or money-making machine. Something that will last in life, not just when watching it. Haha, it’s hard to explain.

I can digging in your list and ratings then pick something that seems interesting, and you can do the same with my choice of films (I’ll prepare it). Or… we can do a challenge, something like this (trakt.tv/lists/5702096).

I did that with my friend. We have different taste. So with that we can experience each other’s preferences. Even though maybe we didn’t like the recommendation, it’ll be a new experience. It’s simple: he recommend something, it’ll be measured by total duration, then I reply with the same total duration.

What method do you prefer? Or just straight up recommendation? I’ll try to recommend based on your ratings, or if you have some indications let me know.

@batfos I think the easier would be recommendations list (the easier on trakt), I've done one for you for Animes (it's not my main genre though, I have much more knowledge on tv shows)
I've provided some advices/description that may help you choose. I'm not sure about the challenge, I mean if you don't like something I recommended just drop it. As long as you have given it a fair try (I'd say 3 to 5 episodes at least)
We can comment on each other list to improve recommendations based on what we liked and disliked.
So here's the list : https://trakt.tv/users/waldner11/lists/anime-recommendations-to-baftos?sort=rank,asc

As to my taste in movies, I'd say first recommend what you feel are the best ones regardless of my tastes then for my taste I'd say dark and I kind of need to relate to characters, what they experience, subtility and some things like that + my ratings. I have no time/country 'racism', you can recommend a turkish movie or a movie in the 1930's as long as it's good. You can also recommend tv show or animes, I'm always searching for new stuff)

So, let me know if that sounds good to you. If you want movies or shows don't hesitate to ask but it will dependent of the time you have on your hand (tv show are very time consuming especially at first). By the way, it's possible I recommend something you already watched, there's no great way to compare each other thins on trakt so forgive me if I do...

@waldner11 That’s a great idea, yeah, it’s better. But how about reduce it to maybe a line (6 items), so it’ll left the best one. Then after we’ve finished a line and comment each other, we can improve the recommendations, we do another line, and so on. I think that’s more effective. What do you think?

Maybe you can mix it with shows or movies in your recommendations to me, but mainly anime for this first part. Oh, and for anime, I don’t like the ones with too much fan service or something like that, haha. I’ll prepare the list for you soon.

I think you can check if a friend already watched an item or not by going to the item’s page, under the overview… if that’s what you mean.

@batfos Reduced list of 6 items is a great idea, I've basically done that at the end of my list when I suggest to you what to watch first. I'll amend the order of my list so you can go with the rank and do the first 6. (I don't really want to delete what I've done, I'm lazy)

I'm pretty sure I don't do 'fan service' animes but maybe I do, I don't know.

Yes we can see what we each other watched but on movies we have 1000+ movies each, I mean it's checkable but it will be a pain (actually if we do only 6 by streak it's easily more checkable, I get what you mean now)

@waldner11 It’s done: trakt.tv/users/batfos/lists/recs-to-waldner. Let me know if that’s OK with you.
