I had high expectation for this one. Turns out to be a disappointment. Dom Hemingway was a safe cracker and spent twelve years in prison. After being released he is looking for something that was promised to him in return for the favor of keeping his mouth shut for all of those years.

Some things didn't worked well for me. The characters are not developed enough. At some point I couldn't understand if what I was seeing was supposed to be funny or not. There are some films where silly moments can be brilliant, I guess that was supposed to be the case but for me they didn't worked well. Another thing that bothered me was the relationship between Dom and his daughter. That side of his life that is supposed to be the emotional turn in the story, his attempt of redemption, is not well explored and not much time of the film is given to that case.

Jude Law had an absolutely terrific performance! The way he talks, he walks, his physical transformation are great for what was required in this kind of role. He is definitely the best part of this film! I don't know why, when I was younger I used to think that Jude Law was just a pretty face and nothing more. But lately I look at him in a different way. I hope he continues with the great performances like this one.

Dom Hemingway made me remember of Filth a lot. Both films are about two damaged guys in some way and the lead performances are amazing but the plots are not strong enough to support such strong characters. Although I think Dom Hemingway is able to be weaker than Filth.

At the end Dom Hemingway has more style than substance. I didn't know exactly what rate I would give to it but I'll give it three stars and they are almost given in a whole to Jude Law's performance. I think this film is worth seeing just by his amazing performance alone.
