Bran: I can never be Lord of Winterfell, I can never be Lord of anything, I'm the Three-eyed Raven.

Also Bran: I'm the King.

@deanzel Such a prime example of how inconsistent the show has been in this last season (much as Daenerys declaring mercy was a strength and not a weakness and then destroying everything and killing everyone). On the other hand, maybe Bran the Bored knew he'd become King, and so that's why he couldn't be Lord of Winterfell?

@deanzel gotta copy comments from Reddit :)

@deanzel I mean the entire point of him being King is that he's letting his people do the actual work while he does almost nothing but monitor the situation

@deanzel

Bran: I can never be Lord of Winterfell, I can never be Lord of anything, I'm the Three-eyed Raven.

Also Bran: Why do you think I came all this way?

@deanzel same. It was particularly off when Bran was at the council meeting, especially when he was being sent off with awkward “long may he reign”s and then Tyrion says “That will improve” and he replied “I’m sure it will.” It is as if he’s enjoying it all too well. A stark difference from season 7’s apathetic Three-Eyed Raven.

@deanzel at least a few people understood what that was all about.

@deanzel It all boils down to what line of thought you subscribe to. If Bran intentionally mislead/steered everyone to this outcome, he was simply hiding the fact that something greater would come to him in the end. And if he didn't know until some point between the big battle in Winterfell and this last episode, they are still very different things the way it all turned out. A Lord is still an hereditary title, much more centralized in a figurehead while the King has always relied more on his council to rule, and presumably that will even increase now if Bran's apparent priorities are any indication... Being the King now doesn't mean what it meant then.

@deanzel You did not get the message. He did not choose anything, the gods have chosen him. If he ends up as king, it is because it is supposed to be that way, for Westeros.
