Wow. This was not a good start. Broken relationships lead to broken children. The main character is a spunky, artistic teen that no one understands who tries to run away from her cheating, drunken parents and then gets picked on by bullies. An evil predator swoops in, promising fun things. I've never read this book and this first episode has made me seriously consider crossing it off my "want to read" list. I may give this one more episode to see if it does anything remotely original.
