I have long been a fan of movies that show both the building up and then the tearing down of a relationship in different timelines. Some reviews thought it was hard to follow because of this method of storytelling - I didn't have an issue at all. Based on the description I thought it would be more like Blaze or A Star Born but in the end it felt more like Blue Valentine. The movie is gritty and the performances are excellent. The music is as good as advertised - I actually wish there had been a little more of it.
