The process in which the world is built and characters are introduced is clunky at best, but after the introductory fumble, Alita unfolds into a densely packed visual marvel of effects and cyber fantasy that almost begs to be seen on a large screen. It lacks a bit of the extra story elements I’d normally like to see, which leaves the entire package feeling rather hollow for my liking, but if you’re a stickler for CGI and visuals (even at the expense of a more fleshed out narrative), Alita will not disappoint. Here’s to hoping we get the sequel that fully capitalises on this promising franchise.
