The film makes a good attempt at being different and inventive within its bloated genre and it drops some half-good jokes along the way.
The Bad:
There simply isn't any chemistry between the awkward Analeigh Tipton and the lifeless Miles Teller. Most of the jokes could have worked a whole lot better if the actors, Tipton in particular, had any comical timing at all. Now all Tipton does is try too hard and it just turns out awkward.
Despite being running for only 80 minutes, the film feels painfully long. It's almost devoid of any actual content and very little of note ever happens.
The dialogue is uninspiring, boring and too mundane to feel even remotely interesting.
There is an annoying score in the background, which, thankfully, is sparingly used.
The lack of any sexual tension or pure romancing between the leads is worrying.
Since the story or the characters barely develop over the course of the film, I lost interest very quickly. By the time the big twist comes around I simply didn't care any linger.
This movie features what I believe to be the unsexiest sex scenes I have ever seen in a movie.
The big problem is that the movies is dull and generic and does nothing new within its genre.
Verdict:
Awkward actors and an empty script cannot save a romantic movie about sex that is devoid of both romance and sexual tension.
