Grease 1978

The ABC of Grease

The Awesome
John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John steal the show as the lovebirds of this West Side Story of the 1970s.
The timeless musical score makes you dance and sing along with the cast and almost every song is instantly memorable.
The two leads are supported by an equally great cast of young actors and seasoned performers.
Director Randar Kleiser makes thi movie feel like more than just a musical, with the dramatic parts actually making an impact.
A great period piece, detailing teenage life in 1950’s USA.
Some of the dialogue is witty and hilarious.

The Betwixt
Some of the dialogue and comedy is dated; it might have worked in the young audience of 1977 but doesn't work as well today.
A couple of songs are forgettable and there are a few scenes that drag out a bit too much.

The Crappy
Despite its runtime, very little of note actually happens throughout the story, and there’s no real story progression until the end.
The film feels more like a musical clumsily adapted for the big screen than a standalone film, with the song and dance sequences taking the highlight at the cost of a layered love story.
