Last Comic Standing is not a stand-up comedy show, it is just Trailers for Comedians.
In the first couple years of this show, the front episodes were tolerable...not good but I could tolerate them. Once they started doing the "semi-finalists" is when the show started to get entertaining. This structure is gone...now the intro episodes are mind-numbingly garbage. Take the season 8 premier for example, the show ran for a little over 85 Minutes not including commercials. This episode had about 5-10 minutes of actual stand-up comedy, for a stand up comedy show that is just pathetic. I don't give a crap about the bullshit filler these competition shows like to throw in...give me SUBSTANCE! You had plenty of substance to give but you gave almost none of it. There was literally no suspense at all because guess what...I KNEW WHO WAS GETTING PICKED! The people that advanced were given more than just one damn joke so yea obviously they are getting picked.
I don't have a problem with Season 8 judges but Keenan talks about the comic's "point of view" way too much. I hope he eases up on that.
Anyway, Season 8 premier is just a giant disappointment so far because I get more substance from a 3-4 Minute Late Night Talk Show set than the show that is suppose to be SOLELY for Stand-Up Comedy. It is just pathetic.
If they do what the did in the past and actually become watch-able later in the season, sure I'll try it again when they finally give them time to actually do their sets but all of the intro episodes of this show are just garbage.
As a HUGE fan of Stand Up Comedy this show is just disappointing...the main benefit of this show is to give me names of comics that I will then search for their content elsewhere.
