I vaguely remember the brazilian cult-show "Os Normais" as I was barely 5-years old at the time of its airing - my parents watched it weekly, but I couldn't capture any of the jokes or adult humour contained on it. I decided to rewatch it on my own with 23 - the pilot episode kicks off putting us in the middle of "normal" day for the main couple, Rui and Vani, with them breaking the fourth wall and addressing the viewers while go on with their days. Things scalate pretty quickly when while out on a diner date, the couple next to them confuses their interactions as a call for a foursome and it keeps on getting even more absurd, culminating on a bizarre situation that ends with both Rui and Vani having an argument while the credits roll. That's it, that's the setup and template for all of the following episodes - a "normal" situation completely blown out of proportion by a set of actions, usually tangling up a couple of guest stars with them, a conflict and a reconciliation at the end.
This one in particular was pretty golden, with both couples being oblivious to the other intentions, leading up to absurd situations, Fernanda Torres as Vani is brilliant on her delivery and Luis Fernando is also pretty spot-on as the jerk Rui, so it's a good, albeit not great pilot. Let's see what's next
