They couldn't tell Jack about the female because they couldn't trust him, but they told Kate, but clearly Kate can't be trusted because the first thing she does is runs to Jack and tells him and Juliette about the female and the satellite phone! That was extremely stupid. Oh, and no one bothered to check to even make sure that John's father was actually dead or just passed out, I'm guessing that he might just wake up while John is carrying him.
