The French know two types of comedy: slapstick and tongue in cheek, and slapstick is the default setting. Imagine my relief, then, when I saw they'd actually tried to make an effort and be funny.
And they succeed much of the time. While the story (a mother anthropologist tracks down her son anthropologist in the jungle) doesn't lend itself to comedy, the actors are able to add some punch to the script. Terrible Jungle isn't the comedy of the year, but at least it's the comedy of the week.
